Apartment construction surges here

The local market for apartments is strong and there's a lot of new construction, said Tom Cain of Cain Inc. The firm tracks properties of 50 units or more in King and Snohomish counties.

Vacancy is at 4.44 percent, a slight drop from last quarter, according to the Cain Inc./Apartment Insights Washington.
