The Port of Seattle has abandoned plans to seek a zoning change to build a biotech hub on its land in Interbay, despite spending more than $7 million on the redevelopment effort.
Instead, this spring the port will issue a request for proposals from industrial developers for the property, according to real estate director Joe McWilliams, who was hired last February. The port refers to the 60-acre site near the Magnolia Bridge as North Bay. It is the largest vacant industrially zoned land left in Seattle.
