Microsoft to stop work on building

  • It also won’t start another office building it had planned to build on the former Safeco campus.

    A Microsoft spokesman said yesterday the firm will stop construction on one office building and delay another, both on the north part of its Redmond campus, “in light of the economic situation.”

    Responding to a story in Tuesday’s edition of seattlepi.com, Lou Gellos, Microsoft director of corporate communications, said the firm will cap off a building it has started on land it purchased from Safeco Corp. on the north section of the campus. He said construction hasn’t yet reached ground level and will be stopped when it reaches a “safe spot.”
