AvalonBay ties up site in U District

SEATTLE — Multi-family developer AvalonBay Communities has a large development site in the University District under contract.

The property, now mostly surface parking, is over an acre. It's on the west side of 12th Avenue Northeast, south of 47th Street, according to company Vice President Brian Fritz, who announced the deal Wednesday at a meeting of commercial real estate group NAIOP.
