Despite a number of big leases recently, the office vacancy rate in downtown Seattle increased about half a point to nearly 14 percent.
The reason is that Amazon.com's mega deal for most of 1918 Eighth, a new high-rise, and other large transactions have not taken effect. When they do, the rate will drop a full percentage point, according to Seattle-based Kidder Mathews, which released its first quarter report yesterday.
