The first phase of the Gateway Apartments in Bothell is moving along, with crews from Sierra Construction Co. pouring foundations for the first level of underground parking. The $15.1 million project is near Beardslee Boulevard and west of Interstate 405, at 19128 112th Ave. N.E.

Veer Architecture designed Gateway as a 231,800-square-foot building with two levels of underground parking and ground-level retail topped by four levels of wood-framed apartments. The exterior will be a combination of CMU, HardiePlank siding and metal panels.

When it opens in February 2014, the project will have 146 market-rate apartments in studio, one- and two-bedroom configurations, ranging from 514 to 1,189 square feet.

There will be a fitness center, club room and outdoor patio with covered seating.

Owner Gateway Apartments Phase 1A LP has plans for three future phases over the next four years but details were not available.

Other project designers are Yu & Trochalakis (structural engineer), Triad Associates (civil engineer) and Zollner Landscape Architecture.

Sierra's team is led by senior account manager Kory Knudson, project manager Matt Enany and superintendent Jon Gebow. Major subcontractors are Spartan Concrete, Express Electric, Aloisio Plumbing and Advanced Fire Protection.
