Seattle City Light has been working on plans for a new $200 million Denny substation for years. It just feels like decades. One of the central questions is how to move power from a substation south of Safeco Field to the proposed substation at Denny Way and Minor Avenue North.
City Light has suggested three routes for study in the environmental impact statement. Two would go underground west of Interstate 5: one along Sixth Avenue and one through the Metro Bus Tunnel.
