Sound Transit picks Tacoma light-rail extension route

The Sound Transit Board has identified an alignment to expand light-rail service from downtown Tacoma to the Stadium and Hilltop neighborhoods.

Existing service runs from the Tacoma Dome area and turns onto Commerce Street, terminating at the Theater District. The extension would continue north from the existing Theater District Station along Stadium Way to the intersection of North First Street and Division Avenue. It then would go along Division, turning onto Martin Luther King Jr. Way and ending up at South 19th Street.
