Plans for Expedia's new campus in Seattle are starting to come together.

The company filed a shoreline substantial development application for about 1.2 million square feet of new office space and 2,070 parking spaces. That would involve expanding four existing buildings on the campus at 1201 Amgen Ct. W. and building a new 546,000-square-foot structure.

This filing is part of a major phased development master plan permit that looks at the campus over a 15-year period. Expedia could eventually have as much as 1.9 million square feet on the campus and parking for 3,300 vehicles. The space would include four four-story buildings and a pair of two-story buildings, as well as the expansion of four existing buildings.

The 1.2 million-square-foot expansion would be the first phase of the 15-year plan. Later phases may or may not get built, an Expedia spokeswoman said.

Expedia acquired Amgen's 41-acre campus in May for $228.9 million and plans to move its headquarters from downtown Bellevue by 2019. Expedia is planning for the new campus to house about 4,500 employees when it opens, but all of the 1.2 million square feet may not be built out at that point, the spokeswoman said.

All future buildings will fit within the 65-foot height limit for the site.

Bohlin Cywinski Jackson will design the new campus.

This massing study shows the approximate size of the campus if all 1.9 million square feet get built.
