The $20 million project provides studio apartments for formerly homeless people.

Plymouth Housing Group will hold an opening ceremony at 10 a.m. Feb. 11 for Sylvia Odom's Place, a 63-unit apartment building at 2017 Third Ave. in Seattle.

Seattle Mayor Ed Murray and Plymouth officials will speak.

The $20 million project provides studio apartments that range from 325 to 380 square feet for formerly homeless people who are in Plymouth's Housing Options Program. There is 1,049 square feet of commercial space, a rooftop deck and a courtyard on the second floor.

People with incomes at or below 30 percent of the area median income are eligible to rent there. They will pay 30 percent of their income in rent. Plymouth said most of the tenants who will live at Sylvia Odom's Place are on disability insurance so they will pay an average of $200 to $250 per month in rent.

Plymouth said the building meets Washington State Evergreen Sustainable Design Standards.

SMR Architects designed it, Marpac Construction was the general contractor and Bellwether Housing provided assistance. The team also included I.L. Gross Structural Engineers, Fazio Associates, Decker Consulting Engineers and Glumac.

Plymouth is a Seattle-based nonprofit. Most tenants in its buildings are single adults who had been homeless for years.

Plymouth's Housing Options Program is for people who previously lived in Plymouth's 24/7 supportive apartments. Tenants at Sylvia Odom's Place can live more independently and need fewer staff resources.

This is Plymouth's 14th housing project, and is named to honor Sylvia Odom, a Plymouth Church member and Horizon House resident who was instrumental in creating Plymouth in 1980.

Funding came from the Seattle Housing Levy, Washington State Housing Finance Commission, Enterprise Community Investment, Bank of America, Washington State Housing Trust Fund, King County Housing and Community Development Program, Employees Community Fund of Boeing, Cascadelink, Kantor Taylor, Horizon House residents, Plymouth Church members, Trinity Parish members, and these foundations: Brettler Family, Neukom Family, The Norcliff and Wyncote Foundation NW.
