Lake City could get complex with 118 apartments and 5 townhouses

Newcastle developer Gaofeng Duan has plans to build a multifamily complex on a mostly vacant site in Lake City's commercial corridor in northeast Seattle.

The site addresses are 3021 and 3025 N.E. 130th St.

Duan's proposal is for a seven-story, 118-unit apartment building and five townhouses on an adjacent parcel. The apartments would have 82 underground parking stalls. The townhouses would have separate off-street parking.

Studio19 Architects is the designer.

The apartment building would have a rooftop deck and exercise room. A shared green space for apartment and townhouse residents is also planned.

Parking access for the apartments would be from the west side of Lake City Way Northeast. Townhouse parking would be reached from a private driveway on the south side of Northeast 130th Street.

Exterior materials for both buildings include corrugated metal siding, fiber cement panels and wood composite siding.

American Family LLC, an entity associated with Duan, acquired the three parcels that compose the site in 2013. Steve Cupic of Cascadia Pacific Properties had proposed putting a 93-unit apartment building there in 2006, but the permit expired in 2014.

A city design review board met last night to consider the project.
