Seattle homebuilder MRN Homes is planning a 147-unit apartment project at 3838 Aurora Ave. N. in Fremont.

The four-story building is called North 39th Apartments and it would include 2,000 square feet of commercial space at the southeast corner of North 39th Street and Aurora.

HyBrid Architecture and Assembly is the architect.

A Seattle design review board will hold its first meeting for the project at 8 p.m. July 11 at the Good Shepherd Center at 4649 Sunnyside Ave. N. in Room 202.

The illustration shows the developer's preferred option for the size and shape of the building.

The proposal includes six live-work units, storage for 36 bicycles and below-grade parking for 42 vehicles. Live-work units would have a shared entry on Aurora.

Pedestrians would enter from 39th Street, and vehicle access would be from the alley on the east side of the building.

Architects say they will break up the building's long east and west faces by designing recesses along the alley and Aurora. That will leave room for a pair of alley-facing courtyards for residents, planned above the first floor.

The 27,700-square-foot site is currently vacant. Several structures would be demolished.
