SEATTLE — Lennar Multifamily Communities has filed plans to construct a mixed-use project at MidTown Center, a full block on the southeast corner of 23rd Avenue and East Union Street in the Central Area.
The proposal is for 405 residential units, 50,800 square feet of commercial space and parking for 482 vehicles.
Encore Architects is working on the project.
The family that has long held the property is still listed in public records as the owner.
The 2.4-acre site has five structures, including a liquor store and a post office.
Legacy Partners was under contract to acquire the land for $23.5 million earlier this year, but the deal fell through. Its development proposal was similar to what Lennar wants to build.
The neighborhood has been a hotbed for construction in recent years. Lake Union Partners has several mixed-use projects in the works on surrounding blocks, and Vulcan Real Estate plans to build 570 apartments at 23rd and South Jackson Street.
