PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) — A deadline for renovations for the old Pendleton city hall has been extended, but city officials are still threatening those in charge of the project with large fines if the work doesn't get done.
The East Oregonian reports that Diana Quezada and her family last year agreed to build a roof over the fire-damaged building within a year, but that date has come and gone. Quezada now says she and her family can't afford the $500-per-day penalties the city previously threatened.
