New garage opens at Northgate Mall

SEATTLE — Just in time to meet holiday shoppers, Northgate Mall opened a new two-level above-ground parking garage on the west side of the mall.

The garage has 673 parking stalls and was built on an existing parking lot. Howard S. Wright, a Balfour Beatty company, was the general contractor.

Sound Transit is building a separate underground garage on the southwest corner of the mall property to serve a future light rail station. It will have five stories of underground parking containing 450 park-and-ride stalls, and 144 surface-level stalls for shoppers.
