Port of Tacoma site sells for $28M; new owner plans logistics center

Pierce County records show the sale of almost 53 acres at the Port of Tacoma for $28 million.

The seller was SSA Tacoma Inc., which acquired the property in 2006 for about $11.7 million.

The buyer was DCT Blair Logistics Center LLC, associated with DCT Industrial of Denver, which has filed plans with the city of Tacoma to develop the former container-storage yard, which now has five older buildings on it that will be removed.

The property is located at 3320 Lincoln Ave., on a peninsula between the Blair and Hylebos waterways.

DCT is planning to develop almost 1.2 million square feet of industrial, warehouse, yard and office space — to be called the DCT Blair Logistics Center.

Kidder Mathews' Todd Clarke, Matt Wood and Ty Clarke brokered the deal. The same team is representing the space in two planned buildings with about 962,000 square feet, to be completed in late 2017 or early 2018.

Earlier this week, the 58-acre site of Tacoma's former Simpson Tideflats sawmill at 733 E. 11th St. sold to Industrial Property Trust of Denver for $32.4 million.

IPT plans to redevelop that site as IPT Logistics Center, with two industrial buildings totaling 1.1 million square feet that can be divided into spaces as small as 60,000 square feet.
