The 39-story, 340-unit building is at 1430 Second Ave.

Urban Visions says its new 39-story apartment tower — West Edge — was awarded a certificate of occupancy on April 5.

The 340-unit building is at 1430 Second Ave., near Pike Place Market.

“This building is intended to be an urban, forward-thinking, dense, exciting place with active public spaces that engage the city streets and Seattle's downtown culture,” said Tom Kundig of Olson Kundig, the architect for the shell and core.

Ankrom Moisan was the architect of record and Sellen Construction was the general contractor. Mitsui Fudosan America was Urban Visions' joint venture partner.

The tower has two outdoor terraces on the eighth floor that are connected by an 85-foot-high skybridge. A 5,000-square-foot retail space on that level has glass floors that extend out over Pike Street. Urban Visions says in a press release that this lets visitors “float 85 feet over Seattle's most pedestrian populated passage.”

The tower also has a rooftop fitness center with views of Elliott Bay, as well as a large space for pets.

Residents will enter on Second Avenue. The lobby has a glass atrium and a Japanese maple tree.

Apartments range from about 500 to 2,700 square feet. Rents start at $2,075 for an open one-bedroom and go up to $16,600 for a two-bedroom penthouse with a den.

Most units have a private balcony and a larger-than-usual footprints.
