We typically do not discourage anyone from following his or her dream, but today we're making an exception by advising investment brokers to forget about winning any of the Broker of the Year awards. Bob Watson has had them sewn up for months.
The head of his own real estate banking firm, R.M. Watson Co., has worked on transactions totaling more than $700 million in 2005. There was the $345 million sale of The Benaroya Co.'s downtown Seattle office properties to Walton Street Capital. That was less than a month after closing the $197 million-plus sale of Harbor Steps, which Equity Residential bought from Harbor Properties.
