Towne, a 107-unit apartment building on Queen Anne that will have Trader Joe's on the ground floor, has started leasing. Towne is at 1900 Queen Anne Ave. N. and was developed by Emerald Bay Equity.
Emerald Bay recently sold the building for $51 million to Deutsche Asset and Wealth Management, also known as RREEF.
Towne was designed by Tiscareno Associates, and Charter Construction was the general contractor. Greystar is the property manager.
Trader Joe's is moving to Towne in August from its current location at 112 W. Galer St.
The Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties will hold a reception to discuss the shortage of affordable housing and how that affects the economy at 4 p.m. July 16 at 335 116th Ave. S.E. in Bellevue. The Washington chapter of NAIOP is offering a tour of some of Capitol Hill's newest projects July 17. There will be a lunch and panel discussion followed by a walking tour of the neighborhood. The panel begins at 11:30 a.m. at Northwest School, 401 E. Pike St. The tour will focus on new projects, and how the neighborhood can keep its culture while integrating new development. Red Lion Hotels has named Phil Lovas and Mike Castro as regional vice presidents of lodging development to support the franchise team as the company expands nationwide. Lovas has more than a decade of experience, most recently for InterContinental Hotels Group where he was regional director of franchise development. He also worked for Cendant Corp. on development and conversion projects in the Mountain West. Castro has been with Red Lion since 2010, most recently as vice president of brand services. He also worked for Sage Hospitality, CSM and Hilton Hotels. Red Lion has 53 hotels.
Edmonds-based The Hotel Group hired Jake Fischer as vice president of development. He will focus on buying, developing and managing property in eastern states. Fischer worked at The Hotel Group before and most recently worked for MIG Real Estate finding hotel acquisition and development opportunities and managing properties. The Hotel Group owns more than 30 properties in 10 states.
Low Income Housing Institute's Ernestine Anderson Place at 2010 S. Jackson St. is a finalist for a Readers' Choice award from Affordable Housing Finance Magazine in the senior housing category. The building has 60 units for seniors with incomes at 50 percent or below the area median. Sound Mental Health provides supportive services on site, and Operation Nightwatch is the community partner. Runberg Architecture Group was the architect and Walsh Construction Co. was the general contractor.
