Daniels is DSA's Downtown Champion

Downtown Seattle Association named Daniels Real Estate President Kevin Daniels the 2015 Downtown Champion at its annual meeting Wednesday. Daniels was honored for his vision of downtown and his emphasis on historic preservation. The award goes to an individual or organization that has made a positive impact on downtown. Last year's winner was Leslie Smith, executive director of Alliance for Pioneer Square. Daniels has more than 30 years of real estate experience, and is president of Daniels Real Estate and Nitze-Stagen & Co.

Attain Housing names interim ED

Pottmeyer

The Kirkland-based affordable housing group Attain Housing hired Terry Pottmeyer interim executive director, replacing Jennifer Barron, who resigned in May. Under Barron the organization changed its name from KITH to Attain Housing, and merged with Housing at the Crossroads. Pottmeyer was president and CEO of Friends of Youth. She will help find a permanent director.

NBS adds financial analyst

Lemley

NBS Financial Services hired Connor Lemley as a finance analyst in Seattle. Lemley graduated from the University of Washington with a political science degree, and worked at a political tech startup in Denver and for Seattle Mayor Ed Murray's campaign. He worked at McKee & Schalka Real Estate Appraisal Services and got certified in real estate finance and statistics. NBS Financial is part of NAI Norris, Beggs & Simpson, a real estate company in Portland.

NAIOP event on capital markets

NAIOP's June 17 breakfast meeting will focus on capital markets: what's driving them and where they are going. The event is at Four Seasons Seattle and starts at 7:45 a.m. Mike Wood, principal at NBS Financial Services will moderate a panel that includes Frank Bosl of CBRE, Kevin Catlett of Principal Real Estate Investors and Jason Flynn of Eastdil Secured. Doug Daley joins Bellwether Housing

Former Harbor Properties CEO Doug Daley will be executive director at Bellwether Housing, replacing Sarah Lewontin, who is retiring after being executive director since 2004. Daley has been on the affordable housing group's board since 2010, and was chair in 2013 and 2014. Daley spent 10 years at Harbor Properties, now called Mack Urban, and before that was CFO at Trammell Crow Residential West Coast Group. Daley said in a press release that more investors today want to support affordable housing. Bellwether manages 30 properties with 1,900 units in Seattle, housing 3,200 people.

TruAmerica hires Doug Vodder

TruAmerica Multifamily, which owns several apartment complexes in the area, has hired Doug Vodder as director of capital improvements. Vodder will oversee renovations in the Pacific Northwest. He worked at the Seattle office of Greystar, where he supervised maintenance and capital improvements for more than 5,000 apartments. TruAmerica was founded in 2013 as a joint venture between Robert Hart and The Guardian Life Insurance Co. of America. The Los Angeles-based company has about 8,000 units valued at $1.5 billion, including 1,400 in the Pacific Northwest. TruAmerica said it wants to buy 2,000 units in the Pacific Northwest this year.

Cushman to manage Central Building

Cushman & Wakefield | Commerce said it will manage the eight-story Central Building at 810 Third Ave. for KBS Strategic Opportunity REIT. The 191,784-square-foot building is 92 percent leased. John Fox and Janice Davis will lead the team for Cushman & Wakefield. KBS bought the building in July 2013 for $34.5 million. It was constructed in 1907, and designated a landmark in 2008 after a five-year renovation. Cushman & Wakefield manages approximately 1 million square feet in the region.

CREW topic: affordable housing

Commercial Real Estate Women Seattle & Sound's June luncheon will tackle the issues of affordable housing, looking at demand, policies and financing. The event is at 11:30 a.m. June 11 at Washington Athletic Club. Panelists are M.A. Leonard of Enterprise Community Partners, Sarah Lewontin of Bellwether Housing and Faith Pettis of Pacifica Law Group.
