More retailers fill Skanska's 400 Fairview

Skanska USA has added four new retail tenants in The Hall, the food and retail court at 400 Fairview. Urban Optix is an eye clinic and luxury eyewear shop owned by Dr. Traci Lee. Butter London is a cosmetics retailer and nail salon run by Sarina Godin. JOIN Shop is a collective of over 50 independent designers, makers and artists. Web-based since its founding by a half-dozen Seattle partners in 2008, JOIN Shop is opening its first brick-and-mortar location. Trophy Cupcakes, founded in 2007 by Jennifer Shea and Mike Williamson, will operate a new pop-up shop. In a statement, Skanska's Murphy McCullough said, “With The Hall, we continue to realize our vision of a mix of food, drinks, traditional retail, and services for our office tenants and the surrounding community.” Co-owned with TIAA, 400 Fairview is fully leased. Skanska is now building 2+U tower at Second and University.

National honors for local NAIOP chapter

NAIOP named NAIOP Washington State chapter of the year. NAIOP President Thomas J. Bisacquino said in a statement, “NAIOP Washington State had an exceptional year. Their commitment toward emphasizing what NAIOP membership can do for an individual's business and career is invaluable. Combining this membership strategy with outstanding communication approaches and leading education programs, the chapter engaged its members in new and powerful ways. Legislatively, NAIOP Washington State and its PAC are powerful, advancing initiatives that helped promote affordable housing and transit, while avoiding excessive taxes to the businesses that support the economy.”

Girl Scouts find new home at G2

Jones Lang LaSalle helped find a new home for the Girl Scouts of Western Washington. The organization sold its Uptown headquarters in November for $5.8 million, after owning and occupying the 1969 building for 17 years. This week the Girl Scouts moved into G2 (formerly the Seattle Design Center), at 5601 Sixth Ave. S. in Georgetown. G2, also called Georgetown Squared, was redeveloped by Greenbridge Investment Partners of Beverly Hills, California. JLL's Joe Gowan and Lloyd Low represented Greenbridge in the lease. Colliers' Greg Inglin and Charlie Farra represented the Girl Scouts. JLL's Kelly Monteiro and Piper Luhrs managed the tenant improvements for the Girl Scouts, working with Nelson Architects and Venture General Contracting.

Paragon works on Lar-Lin Manor deal

Paragon Real Estate represented the buyer of Lar-Lin Manor, a 25-unit apartment building in North Seattle. Paragon's Jacob Odegard represented the buyer, Greenwood Vista LLC, in the $5.4 million transaction. Windermere Commercial's Lauren Hendricks represented the seller, a family that developed the property in 1967. Odegard said that the acquisition was financed by Pacific Crest Savings Bank, with Homestreet Bank also involved in a refinance that was used toward the down payment. Odegard said that Greenwood Vista is associated with local real estate investor and property manager Irene Arden. Separately, Odegard is also marketing the 13-unit Hahn Apartments, also located near Greenwood Avenue North and North 117th Street.

URG has announced new titles and duties for a trio of employees. A 12-year veteran in commercial real estate, Matthew Simo was named VP of acquisitions. With three decades in his field, Randy Bartl was named VP of engineering. Renee Evans was named director of human resources and organizational development.

NAIOP party on Sellen's SLU roof

The weather forecast is clear for NAIOP's rooftop social and networking event. The mixer starts at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 25 on the rooftop deck at Sellen Construction, 227 Westlake Ave. N. Attendees will be able to count at least a half-dozen project sites, including: Greystar's 28-story residential tower at 200 Eighth Ave. N., Pillar Properties' 24-story residential tower at 820 John St. and the Redman family's 12-story office tower at 234 Ninth Ave. N. (Scott Redman is president of Sellen.) At 910 John St. Vulcan Real Estate is planning a seven-story mixed-use building, and at the Shilla restaurant triangle Chinese investors are planning a 39-story residential tower. M&M taps Joel Deis for national team

Marcus & Millichap has promoted Seattle-based Joel Deis to lead its national self-storage team. Deis has been with the firm for five years. The UW grad was on the Huskies' 2001 Rose Bowl championship team. M&M's Alan L. Pontius said Deis will play a key role in growing the firm's market share.

Deanna Dargan starts real estate firm

Deanna Dargan has formed a new real estate marketing firm in Tacoma called Tairis Group. Tairis will act as a marketing department for clients, and also offer project-specific services, branding and promotion. Dargan was with The Rush Companies and BCRA. Her clients include Blue Architecture of Bremerton, and Tacoma-based Nexus and Colvos Construction. Colvos is working on the new Infoblox offices on Pacific Avenue.

ULI offers Publix tour

Developed by the Moriguchi family (of Uwajimaya), the Publix is one of the first significant new projects in the International District, though a wave of new development is coming. Urban Land Institute is offering a tour of the project. Miye Moriguchi and Kiki Gram of Spectrum Development Solutions will talk about the renovation and addition. NBS acquires Draper Hergert

Local mortgage banking firm Draper Hergert Shaw has been acquired by Portland's Norris, Beggs & Simpson Companies. NBS said DHS principals Alan Hergert and Bruce Shaw will join its Seattle office. NBS generated $691 million in loans from the Seattle office last year.

Perkins worked on F5 Tower deal

Perkins Coie said that it provided legal representation to F5 Networks in the deal to move its headquarters to the tower at 801 Fifth Ave. being developed by Daniels Real Estate and financial partner Stockbridge Capital Group. Perkins' team was led by partner Michael A. Barrett, and included partners Nathan F. Fahrer and Andrew L. Greene and counsel Katherine C. Wax. F5 Networks is expected to move into the 516,000-square-foot space in early 2019.
