Project description: Build a replacement for the existing Truman Middle School at a nearby site. The new facility will be over 123,000 square feet in two stories. Included will be general classrooms and administrative office areas, as well as science labs, life-skill classrooms, computer labs, a gymnasium, music education center and serving kitchen. Site development will include soccer, baseball and softball fields, a running track and parking for 160 vehicles.

Original contract amount: $16,319,700.
Start of construction: May 1998.
