Willamette Industries

Willamette Industries' board of directors has elected Steven R. Rogel to the position of chief executive officer, effective Oct. 1, and appointed him to the company's board. He will replace William Swindells, who is retiring as CEO after 42 years with company. Swindells will remain chairman of the board. Rogel, 53, has been president and chief operating officer of Willamette since 1991. A chemical engineering graduate of the University of Washington, Rogel joined Willamette in 1972 as technical director of the Albany, Oregon paper mill. He held several management positions at that mill and the company's Red River Mill in Campti, Louisiana before being elected vice president in 1979 and executive vice president nine years later.

Callison Architecture has promoted 14 senior staff members. Lois Jean Broadway, Greg S. Carpenter, Ted Caloger, Steve Dwoskin, Diane Emick, Steven S. Harmon, Christopher Hamilton, Stanley Laegreid, M.J. Munsell, Mike Scott, Dale Stern, Erie O. Stone, Gary Wakatsuki and George K. Wickwire.

KJM

Darryl Olson has joined KJM & Associates, Inc. as an associate. With 27 years of experience in construction related financial positions, he is responsible for accounting and human relations functions.

BOORA

BOORA of Portland has added six new employees to the staff. Jennifer Lakeman is a graphic designer, responsible for graphics for various architectural projects as well as marketing materials. Garrett Martin, a graduate of Harvard University Graduate School of Design, is currently working on a new Nike Town for New York. Linda Muerle joins BOORA as a job captain for the Nike Town San Francisco project. David Perzik is currently working on the Oregon Veteran's Home in The Dalles and the Kaiser Salmon Creek Medical Office Building in Vancouver. He was previously with Lee, Burkhart, Liu Architects of Santa Monica, Calif. Anne Wilson, who holds a degree in interior design, is working on a variety of projects including two Nike Towns and a health club at the Fisherman's Wharf Marriott in San Francisco. David Yosick joins the design team for a new athletic center for the Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District. Prior to joining BOORA, Yosick was with Cardwell/Thomas Inc., in Seattle.

Pinnacle Consulting Group

The Pinnacle Consulting Group has hired Paul E. Clark as a computer aided design (CAD) operator. He will be part of the team involved in projects for Optiva Corp., Trojan Lithography and Panasonic Industrial Co. Clark has six years of high production computer drafting experience. He has supervised and coordinated computer aided drafting efforts in Las Vegas, and also participated in the design of a new 400,000-square-foot grocery distribution center for McLane Co., in Phoenix, and the McCarran International Airport. The Pinnacle Consulting Group, Woodinville, provides industrial facility planning and materials systems design and implementation.

Water Purge Systems Ltd. of Scottsdale, Ariz., has announced the creation of WaterWeb, a new Internet site for individuals and firms engaged in the procurement, use and disposal of water. Located on the world wide web at http://www.waterweb.com, the site provides an international database covering virtually every facet of water and its related technologies, including: water treatment equipment; water testing equipment and services; water treatment chemicals; water conservation technology and services; computer software; consultants and engineers; research databases and resources; education and training resources; industry trade associations; industry news; upcoming events; water-related expositions and conferences; trade and professional journals; university and government information databases; and government regulatory agencies. For those without access to the net, Water Purge Systems also offers free assistance in establishing a connection or answering related hardware and software questions.

Weston gets Fort Lewis contract

The Seattle District Corps of Engineers has awarded international environmental consultants Roy F. Weston Inc. a two-year contract, based on 50,000 annual work hours, to address potential environmental concerns at the Fort Lewis installation. The contract may also include environmental projects at other facilities in Washington and Oregon -- e.g. the Yakima Firing Range and the Vancouver Barracks -- under the fort's direction. Specific tasks could require a variety of technical support services, including air and water quality studies, waste designation and minimization and pollution prevention planning. Weston employs more than 60 people in its Seattle, Richland and Portland offices.

Showplace Kitchens & Baths

Diana Valentine of Showplace Kitchen and Baths, in Redmond, has been selected to be on the panel of judges for the national Wilsonart/Maytag CKD Excellence in Kitchen Design Competition. The winning design will be published in Better Homes and Gardens Kitchen and Bath Ideas Magazine.

The Prudential

Prudential Meridian Valley Realty Inc. has appointed Mark Mangold as residential division manager. Mangold was formerly a broker with Windermere's West Seattle office. He holds both the Graduate of the Real Estate Institute, as well as the certified real estate brokerage manager designations.
