Lugo Construction

Lugo Construction Inc. of Fife recently announced Bradley Howell and Marshall Butler have become principals and have been appointed vice presidents. Howell, a senior project manager, holds construction management and architecture degrees from the University of Washington. Butler, the company's director of marketing, holds marketing and communication degrees from the universities of Puget Sound and California at San Francisco.

GLY Construction

GLY Construction has hired five new employees to meet growing demands. Fletcher Beall and Mark Pesanti are superintendents, Steve Hoffmann is a field engineer, and Dan Hurley and Mike Nichols are project managers.

IMCO

Michael Hobbs has joined IMCO General Construction as a construction manager. In his new role, he leads project management teams and oversees IMCO personnel, site work, subcontractor management and project budgeting, bidding and estimating. Hobbs has over 25 years of experience in the industry. He holds a master's degree in engineering and bachelor's degree in forest engineering from the University of Washington.

Fullman Co.

Jeff Lovejoy has joined the management team at Fullman Company, a Portland-based mechanical contractor. As vice president, Lovejoy will focus on business development, specifically for design-build projects. He has over 14 years of experience in the mechanical construction industry.

Elliott Bay Design Group

Elliott Bay Design Group of Seattle has been awarded a contract to develop a concept structural design for a 301-foot housing barge for use by revetment crews working on the Mississippi River. The award is part of a two-year indefinite-delivery contract with the Department of the Army Corps of Engineers' Marine Design Center. The new barge is part of a fleet of similar housing vessels, where crews live while working six-month shifts laying concrete pads to stabilize the river bed.

Women in Communications

The Association of Women in Communications Seattle Chapter installed a new board of directors which will serve for the next year. Vanessa Gallant, director of marketing for the Seattle Design Center, is the chapter president. President-elect is Jeannine Blue Lupton of the U.S. Labor Department. New vice presidents are: Joy Dadoun, Carol Simpson, Teri Attebury, Julie Gangler, Laura Miller, Celestine Davis, Elizabeth Dietz and Francina Noordhoek.

Entranco

Bellevue-based Entranco has appointed the following to its board of directors: Alex Redford, chairman and director emeritus; and Mark Hutcheson. Others members include; P. Kerry Bunday, chairman; Bill Lucas, Kevin Nelson, and Gary Van Wieringen. Entranco has also announced six new shareholders: Kevin Kim, Brad Stein, and Linda Stepp of the Bellevue office; Peter Owen of the Sacramento office; August Hardt,of the Phoenix office; and Roger Sorenson, of the West Valley City, Utah office. Entranco is a corporation of 180 engineers, scientists, planners and surveyors with offices in Arizon, California, Idaho, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

DEA

Peter D. Gonzales and Charles Burnham have been promoted to senior associates and Robert R. Burton and Ronald Q. Anderson have been appointed as associates of David Evans and Associates, Inc. (DEA). David Benson has been appointed as the engineering discipline leader for DEA's Tacoma office. Gonzales, who has been with the firm since 1992, manages the Tacoma office. He is currently working on projects for the Washington State Departments of Transportation (WSDOT) and several county and city governments. Burnham joined DEA in 1992, and has managed several complex rail engineering projects, including the $25 million Banfield Light Rail Transit system for Tri-Met in Portland. Burton, who joined the firm in 1989 as a land surveyor, has been at work on High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) design projects and served as survey manager for the Sunrise Master Planned Community development in Puyallup, Anderson joined the firm in 1995 after 30 years with WSDOT. He currently serves as transportation design manager for the Bellevue office an is actively involved in over a dozen projects located throughout the state. As the newly appointed engineering discipline leader, Benson will direct the engineering group at the firm's Tacoma office. With degrees as a civil engineer, structural engineer and surveyor, he has over 26 years of experience in civil engineering and engineering management. He is currently working on several projects with the Attorney General's Office for Washington and the Prosecuting Attorney's Office for King County. He is also acting as quality control manager for engineering join the Willows Run Golf Course.

DegenKolb

David A. Roggenkamp has joined Degenkolb Engineers as a senior associate with experience in the design of complex excavation shoring systems, foundations, design of structures and seismic analysis. Brian T. Knight has joined the firm as a designer with experience in designing new facilities and seismic renovation of educational, retail and multi-family housing projects.

APG

Katherine Bren, Engineer-in-training, has joined Ayers Professional Group, Inc. (APG) of Bellingham. Her responsibilities include permitting, feasibility studies and as-needed support to the engineering and surveying divisions. Peter Hodges has joined APG as a senior surveyor and director of geographic information systems. He was most recently chief surveyor for Wilson Engineering. He has served as editor of New Hampshire Survey Law, and currently teaches surveying courses at the Bellingham Technical College and the Northwest Tribal School.

Girvin

Robert Freed has joined Tim Girvin, Inc. as industrial design director. His experience ranges from jet aircraft interiors to industrial equipment. Freed was recently with Walter Dorwin Teague. Shawn McNalley has joined the firm as marketing director. She previously managed the Subway Sandwich and Jiffy Lube franchise businesses at EvansGroup.
