Mackie Designs

Mackie Designs of Woodinville announced partnering agreements with two firms involved in sound effects technology, one with Apogee Electronics Corp. and the other with IVL Technologies. Apogee specializes in digital mastering technology and IVL specializes in digital audio effects. Mackie will use the expertise of both firms to enhance its new digital audio products.

Carol Beck has joined Port Blakely Communities as project coordinator for the Issaquah office. She has over 24 years of experience related to development, entitlement, master planning and environmental studies. She recently managed environmental programs for Berger/ABAM Engineers, an engineering, planning and environmental firm in Federal Way.

Toll Free Cellular

Robin Reiners is the new director of marketing communications for Toll Free Cellular, Seattle. The company is launching the first toll and airtime-free services for wireless phone subscribers using 800 numbers. Diana Harker has been named advertising specialist. Reiners was formerly with Allied Telesyn International in Bothell and previously headed her own Tacoma-based design firm. Harker was associate manager of client services for KidStar Interactive Media.

KPFF

Ed Quesenberry has been named an associate at KPFF Consulting Engineers. Quesenberry, who works in KPFF's Portland office, joined the firm in 1995. Past projects include Crates Point Interpretive Complex in The Dalles, the Deschutes County Library in Bend and Klamath County Courthouse.

ALSC

Jeffrey J. Warner and Steve Walther have been appointed principals of ALSC Architects of Spokane. Warner, who has been with the firm since 1983, recently completed work on Telect Inc.'s corporate headquarters at Liberty Lake, Pacific Gas Transmission Company's Spokane office remodel and the Spokane Veteran's Arena. Walther has 18 years of experience in education facility planning, and has designed schools for several Eastern Washington districts.

GA Design, Bellevue, has announced several new projects: a multimedia Powerpoint presentation for Microsoft's Education Consumer Unit; new corporate identity package for Sonus Pharmaceuticals and a new corporate identity for William Buchan Homes.

Pacific Aerospace & Electronics

Wenatchee-based Pacific Aerospace & Electronics, Inc. has entered into a revised letter of intent with Jungle Street, Inc., of Everett, parent corporation of Televar, Inc., a regional Internet access provider. Pacific Aerospace plans to acquire Jungle Street's outstanding common stock for cash. Jungle Street and Televar would be a part of Pacific Aerospace's newly-formed Information Technology Group. Pacific Aerospace develops, manufactures, markets and sells precision components and electronic assemblies designed to operate in harsh environments, such as the ocean, space and the human body.

Rule1Software

Rule1Software of Redmond has launched a new program designed to provide computers to inner-city kids to help them develop computer skills. President Al Martin is looking for other businesses to participate in the Mount Zion Ethnic School computer program or set up similar programs for inner-city kids and their families. Pacific Rim Environmental buys Tukwila lab

TUKWILA -- Pacific Rim Environmental Inc. recently completed its acquisition of Precision Environmental Services Inc., a bulk sampling laboratory based in Tukwila. Pacific Rim Environmental (PRE) in Tukwila is a locally-owned environmental consulting firm which specializes in asbestos, lead and PCB project management, as well as employee safety and health program management. PRE brings in annual revenues of $1 million. PRE President Jeff Lewis did not disclose the terms of the acquisition, but he said Precision had been a primary subcontractor to PRE for the past five years. Precision had two employees. One of them, William F. Golloway , will remain with PRE as laboratory manager. PRE's lab recently received accreditation from the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP), which is administered by the U.S. Department of Commerce. Lewis said PRE now has 14 employees. The company recently hired two new people for its project management department. Mike Piro, formerly of Roy F. Weston in Denver, is working on projects for the Federal Aviation Administration's Northwest Mountain Region, the Washington Department of Transportation and the city of Bremerton. J. Michael Harris, formerly of Shapiro and Associates Inc. in Seattle, is working on projects in Seattle and Wenatchee. Harris is developing site-specific safety and health training programs for PRE's clients.
