Sabey Construction

Four new team members have joined Sabey Construction. Ray Barnes has been named project director, F. Duncan Eader is a project manager, John Warfield is an assistant superintendent and David Nelson is a project engineer. Barnes has over 20 years of experience working on medical facilities, corporate parks, hotels, highrise apartments and educational facilities. He is currently heading up a multi-million-dollar build-out for an Internet start-up company at Sabey Corp.'s Intergate campus in South Seattle. Eader has nearly 20 years of experience and is working on a Postal Service project in Renton. Warfield has over 20 years of experience and is working on a shopping mall expansion in Spokane. Nelson also has 20 years of experience and is working on the Spokane mall project.

David Nemens Associates

Brandy Forbes has recently been named vice president of David Nemens Associates, a land use consulting firm in Seattle. Forbes has been with the firm as a planner for two years. Prior to working for the firm, she was senior planner at a regional planning commission in Ottumwa, Iowa, and also worked as interim city planner for Maple Valley. She is working on current and long-range planning projects for the cities of Kirkland, Woodinville, Newcastle and Pacific and is assisting Puget Sound Energy in permit acquisition. David Nemens Associates provides land use and development services to public sector and private sector clients throughout western Washington. It specializes in comprehensive planning, neighborhood planning, permit processing, zoning code updates and public outreach.

GeoEngineers

Dawn Birkner joins the Portland office of GeoEngineers as senior risk assessor. Birkner is a biologist with 11 years of experience in applied human health and ecological risk assessment and risk analysis research. She has provided risk assessment services to several military agencies, the U.S. Department of Energy, the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation and utility companies. Most recently she worked as manager of the risk assessment group for another consulting firm. Based in Redmond, GeoEngineers is a 180-person firm offering geotechnical, environmental, geologic, ground water, GIS and Endangered Species Act consulting services. Its other office locations include Anchorage, Bellingham, Seattle, Spokane, Tacoma and Portland.

Entranco

J.R. Barker has joined Entranco to provide building and structural engineering services. Barker has more than 12 years of experience designing commercial, educational and industrial facilities and performing seismic evaluations. Barker has provided structural engineering and seismic evaluation services to the Lake Washington School District in Kirkland. He specializes in providing forensic studies of damaged buildings. Since coming to Entranco, he has been providing design services for the modernization of Lakeview Elementary School in Kirkland and has investigated several damaged buildings in the Puget Sound area. Entranco is a Bellevue-based engineering firm with offices in Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Utah.

Kurt R. Jensen & Associates Architects

David Fey has joined the Seattle-based architectural firm of Kurt R. Jensen & Associates Architects as a principal. As of the first of October, the firm will be renamed Jensen/Fey Architecture and Planning. Fey received his architecture degree from the University of Washington and has more than 20 years experience in senior housing and long-term care design. He recently completed the Alliance Living Community of Anacortes. Errol Ramirez has returned to the firm as a job captain after a year-long sabbatical in Costa Rica where he studied the architecture and urbanism of the tropics. Gary Seale has joined the firm as a project architect. He has more than 25 years of experience in the architectural field. Founded in 1995, Kurt R. Jensen & Associates Architects is a 27-employee firm with offices in Seattle and Sacramento. Jensen/Fey Architecture and Planning will continue to focus on commercial projects, with an emphasis on urban, downtown mixed-use, high-rise and hospitality uses.

Kennedy/Jenks

John Harrison has joined the Portland office of Kennedy/Jenks as a senior engineer. Harrison is a wastewater treatment expert with 30 years of experience in the study, evaluation and design of wastewater facilities. His specialty is process design, system comparisons and facility planning. He was the state sewage facility coordinator for Oregons Department of Environmental Quality and has taught at universities in Oregon and Hawaii. Headquartered in San Francisco, Kennedy/Jenks offers consulting services in water quality, water and wastewater systems, water reclamation, flood control, storm drainage and solid and hazardous waste investigation and remediation.

Perteet Engineering

Tracy Gill has recently joined Perteet Engineers as a senior project manager. Gills primary duties will include utility design for water and sewer, grading and drainage. Prior to joining the firm, Gill was with a regional environmental firm and before that worked for the public work departments of King and Snohomish counties. He has designed projects for Washingtons Department of Transportation, the Port of Seattle and King County Metro. Perteet Engineering is a civil and transportation engineering firm with offices in Everett, Lakewood and Snoqualmie.

The Douglass Group, a newly formed marketing communications company, opened its doors in Redmond. Candice Douglass founded the company. Douglass has more than 12 years experience in marketing professional services and most recently served as senior marketing manager at Exponent, Inc., a science an engineering consulting firm in Menlo, Calif.

Mackie Designs

Mackie Designs, a manufacturer of professional audio products based in Woodinville, announced the appointment of Paul Rice as vice president of sales and David Firestone as vice president of marketing. Rice was president of Apogee Electronics and Firestone has held the positions of vice president of product development and vice president of sales with Mackie Designs.
