David Wilson has joined the Burlington office of Architecture Design West. Wilson, a graduate of Washington State University, is working on the conceptual master planning process for the Northern State recreation area project. Architectural Design West is based in Salt Lake City, with offices in Utah, Sacramento, Pullman and Burlington.
Berger/ABAM has promoted several employees to Grade VIII senior project manager.
Bob Fernandes has more than 20 years of experience in the design and analysis of transportation-related facilities and structures. He specializes in the planning, retrofit design, new design and construction monitoring for bridge, highway and roadway systems. He is providing project management services for the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport ground access and seismic improvements project.
Elmer Ozolin has more than 23 years of experience in the planning, design and construction of waterfront and marine facilities. Ozolin specializes in the design of floating and fixed breakwaters, piers, wharves, marina and boat launch facilities and public waterfront parks. He is the design manager for the Port of Seattle Terminal 18 container yard expansion project.
Gary Phillips has more than 18 years of experience in the design, management and construction support of major roadway and highway systems. Phillips' experience also includes site development, environmental planning and regulatory permitting. He is the project manager for the city of Tukwila's South 180th Street grade separation project.
Located in Federal Way, Berger/ABAM is a subsidiary of Louis Berger International, an engineering consulting firm based in East Orange, N.J. Berger/ABAM specializes in building, public works, transportation and waterfront projects.
Sandra Waagan has joined Bruce Dees & Associates, a Tacoma-based landscape firm, as a CADD technician. Tony Williamson has joined the firm as a landscape designer.
Greg Krape has joined Mulvanny G2 as a principal. Krape is project manager for Cedar Court, an office complex in Redmond. He is also the project manager for Fountain Court and the Lakeridge development, both on the Eastside.
Vice president Russ Hazzard was recently promoted to partner at Mulvanny Architects. Hazzard has been with Mulvanny for seven years and now leads the Mulvanny commercial team that focuses on office, retail and industrial design.
David Kofahl has joined Mulvanny Architects as a senior designer. Kofahl was senior designer of the multimillion dollar Hangzhou Liqun Building Retail Center in Hangzhou, China.
Luay Joudeh as joined D.R. Strong, a Kirkland-based civil engineering firm, as president of the board of directors at D.R. Strong Consulting Engineers.
Joining Joudeh in management of the firm are shareholders David Jensen, Richard Olson and Lynden Lee.
GeoEngineers recently hired Jane Preuss as a principal in the Seattle office. As the former owner of Urban Regional Research, Preuss has experience in land use and environmental planning and mitigation of natural disasters, such as floods, landslides, earthquakes, tsunamis and high winds.
Based in Redmond, GeoEngineers offers geotechnical, environmental, geologic, ground water, GIS and Endangered Species Act consulting services. Its other office locations include Anchorage, Bellingham, Seattle, Spokane, Tacoma and Portland.
Carla Thompson, director of marketing, and Paula Houston, manager of human resources, have been promoted to senior associates at Hart Crowser.
Thompson has 19 years of experience in the architecture and engineering industry and was awarded "Marketer of the Year" in 1997. Houston has 19 years of professional experience as a human resources professional.
Hart Crowser is an environmental consulting and remediation engineering and design firm headquartered in Seattle, with offices in Portland, Anchorage, Long Beach, Calif., Denver, Chicago, Boston and Jersey City.
Sophie Legac has joined Ridolfi Engineers as an environmental civil engineer. Legace previously was a research assistant at Humboldt State University.
Pearl Thomas Chamberlin has joined the firm as a civil and environmental specialist and outreach coordinator. She has worked at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Office for Innovation, Region 10, and with the Indian Health Services in Seattle.
Ridolfi Engineers is a civil engineering and environmental consulting firm that provides natural resource restoration and evaluation, environmental protection, waste management and scientific consulting services. The firm has offices in Seattle and Coeur d'Alene.
Sally Thompson has joined based Sparling as director of corporate communications. Thompson comes to Sparling from Washington, D.C., where she was director of communications at the American Consulting Engineers Council. She also has worked in public relations for the Intelligent Transportation Society of America and the Federal Trade Commission.
Located in Seattle, Sparling provides electrical engineering, lighting design and technology consulting services.
The Lewis Architects, based in Bellevue, has recently added several employees. Stig Carlson is project manager and project architect for the Orcas Christian School and Church project on Orcas Island. Carlson is also leading design for the Kirkland Teen Center and three custom residences in the San Juan Islands.
Marcel Desranleau is project manager and project architect of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Marysville and the Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Kirkland.
LaRoy Grant is project manager and project architect of the Woodinville City Hall and a custom waterfront residence remodel in King County.
Magna Design, a Lynnwood-based designer and manufacturer of office furniture systems, announced the appointment of Scott D. Pepin as vice president of sales and marketing. For the last nine years Pepin has served as national accounts manager and most recently as western regional sales manager for BPI/Panel Concepts.
