EvCC has been awarded a $140,000 Workforce Development Grant to establish a telecommunications technology certificate and degree. The Workforce Training Board's 1999 Employer Survey reports that 71% of Snohomish County employers have had difficulty finding qualified applicants during the past year higher than the state average of 64 percent. Companies such as GTE, AT&T, and other carriers have expressed the need for more skilled workers who can deal with the convergence of the technologies necessary to install, operate, and maintain voice, digital, and wireless systems.
