McCarthy

McCarthy Building Companies is continuing to expand its Northwest Division in Bellevue by adding Paul Ryan and Juan Gonzales, both project engineers. Ryan transferred from the company's Phoenix office, where he served as a safety engineer and project engineer on several large projects. He holds bachelor's degrees from Northern Arizona University in construction management and business administration. Gonzales recently graduated from Washington State University with a bachelor's degree in construction management. He has over four years of industry experience.

Lake Forest Park Water District

Lake Forest Park Water District in King County recently purchased WaterWare, a customer management, billing and accounting software system from Information Architects, a Poulsbo-based software firm. WaterWare is Microsoft Windows-based software written especially for managing utility customers. The installation process by Information Architects includes onsite configuration, data conversion, training, custom statements and reports, barcoding and graphs and meter reader interfaces.

Four new employees have joined Portland-based Boora Architects, bringing the firm's total 106.

Calvert Helms is project architect for a 23,000-square-foot office building in northwest Portland. Prior to working for Boora, she was with Thompson Vaivoda Associates in Portland and firms in San Francisco.

Michio Valian has been a team member on the new $45 million National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati. He is also working on the design of a clubhouse at Pacific Dunes, a new golf course on the southern Oregon coast.

Hunter Williams recently completed work on a new music building and finished interior improvements to a Niketown store in San Francisco. He previously worked for Emmons Architects and Dull Olson Weekes Architects of Portland.

Petra Wilm, who recently received a master's degree in architecture from the University of Portland, is working on the Railroad Freedom Project.

Core Design, a Bellevue planning, civil engineering and surveying firm, has hired Malcolm McNaughton as a land planner. He has three years of experience in local land development and project entitlement.

Lafe Hermansen also joins the firm as a land planner. He has experience in residential site planning, municipal redevelopment planning, landscape planning and landscape construction project management.

Baylis Architects

Baylis Architects of Bellevue has hired several new employees. Monika Leutenegger, a recent graduate from the University of Applied Sciences in Konstanz, Germany, has joined the firm as an intern. She is working on the Bellevue Overlake Office and Redmond 85th Street office projects.

Christine Hatcher, a Texas A&M graduate with a background in historic preservation, also has joined the firm as an intern. She also is currently working on the Redmond 85th Street Office project.

Bree Carey returns to Baylis Architects as graphic designer. Grace Suryani, a recent architectural graduate from Catholic University of Farahyangan, Indonesia, has joined the firm as an intern. She is working on the Bellevue Overlake office building, a mixed-use project in Kirkland, and a Barnes & Noble store in Spokane.

Wendy Lee has been hired as an interior designer. She is working on a Holiday Inn in Issaquah.

Tina Boyd has been hired as office manager. Before working for Baylis, she worked in the utilities industry and for a Seattle law firm.

Boxwood

Jeff Phillips has joined Boxwood, a Seattle architectural firm, as an intern architect. He is working on the Stillwater Creek Vineyard visitor center in Royal City, Wash., and is creating 3-D computer models of the McClellan Street light rail transit station in Seattle.

McLellan & Copenhagen

M. Reza Agahian has been promoted to principal at McLellan & Copenhagen LLC, a Seattle firm specializing in scientific laboratory design. He has more than 11 years experience with the company in the planning, design and construction administration of scientific research and teaching facilities. His current projects include the University of California's Riverside Physical Science Building and the University of British Columbia's Michael Smith Building Vancouver.

Mark Osborn, who has 20 years of professional experience, has been promoted to associate principal. His projects include Millennium Pharmaceuticals' genomic research building in Cambridge, Mass., and the National Marine Fisheries Service Honolulu laboratory renewal project in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Michele Brittany, who has been with the firm for one year, has been promoted to business development. She is managing the marketing department.

Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects

Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects has hired 10 new employees, which expands the Seattle-based firm's staff to a total of 67.

The new employees are: Naomi Darling, architectural designer, who is working on a private residence on Mercer Island; Peter Brunner, architect, who is project architect for the Tacoma Art Museum in association with Antoine Predock; Elizabeth Bianchi Conklin, architect; Timothy Gudgel, architectural designer, who also is working on the Tacoma Art Museum; John Riordan, architectural designer, whose current projects are the Newman Student Center at the University of Washington and the Mission Hill Winery at Kelowna, B.C.; Joyce Larson, bookkeeper; John Mrozek, architect, who in association with the Frye Art Museum is working on the design of Nitze-Stagen's Museum Tower project; Kee Song, architect, who is working on a private residence in Bellevue; Supatra "Shikki" Huangyutitham, architectural designer, who is working on the Tacoma Art Museum Project; and Debbie Kennedy, interior designer, whose projects include the Newman Student Center at the University of Washington, the Frye Art Museum and several private residences.
