AISC Marketing LLC, an affiliate of the American Institute of Steel Construction, has hired engineer Kimberley Robinson to represent the Northwest region -- which includes Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Montana and Colorado. In addition to working with fabricators, structural engineers, and building owners, she will be heavily involved in AISC's design-build initiative. She holds a bachelor's degree in structural engineering from the University of Utah. She most recently worked as structural designer for Dunn Associates of Salt Lake City. Robert Humphrey has been named chief executive officer at OpenDesign. Humphrey's former positions were with Insight Venture Capital Partners and i2 Technologies. OpenDesign is a provider of infrastructure software for networked applications, with offices in south San Francisco and Bellevue.

Reid Middleton, Inc. has hired Randa Awad as an engineer in the surface transportation group. Awad’s responsibilities include preparing traffic impact analyses and designing traffic signals and urban and rural roadway projects. Awad comes to Reid Middleton from the city of Woodinville where she worked for the Public Works Department as an intern. She graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor of science in civil engineering and belongs to the Women’s Transportation Seminar.
Cheryl R. Conlan has joined the Glosten Associates, a Seattle-based consulting engineering firm serving the marine industry. Conlan has 12 years of customer service expertise and will serve as receptionist.
Glosten specializes in the design of tugs, barges, research vessels, passenger/car ferries and special-purpose platform design.
Systems Interface Inc. announced the addition or two project engineers. Marcus Lee will be joining the Bothell office and Mark Huber will be joining the Tigard, Ore., operation. Each will be involved in the design, test and programming of industrial control systems and manufacturing enterprise solutions. Prior to joining Systems Interface, Lee was an independent electrical contractor and a project engineer for Harbor Pacific Contractors in Woodinville. Huber was vice president of Dynasys Inc. in Salem, Ore., and Diversified Control Systems Inc. in Eugene.

Casne Engineering has elected Nick Wiley to its board of directors. Wiley serves as director of Casne Engineering’s technology services department. He has 10 years of professional software development and control systems experience, and he has managed, designed, and implemented projects involving technology solutions for a variety of applications including power generation, energy management, building automation, water treatment and factory automation. Wiley has developed web solutions for the Linux operating system and is knowledgeable in other open-source projects such as Apache, PostgresQL, mySQL and sendmail.
Mike Perfetti has joined J.A. Brennan Associates as a landscape designer. He is responsible for parks and open space planning and design, specification writing, cost estimating, and drafting and graphics production. Since joining the firm, Perfetti has provided design services for the Tacoma Chinese Reconciliation Park and the Willapa River Estuary Restoration Project. Prior to joining the firm, Perfetti served as a designer for EDAW and Anderson & Ray.
Pacific Land Design announced Scott Franklin has become a principal of the firm. Scott joined Pacific Land Design in 1999, and manages the Oregon-based design team. He has over 15 years experience leading site development projects throughout the Northwest and is currently managing the land use entitlements and sitework design for numerous new retail projects in Oregon and southwest Washington.
The Seattle-based firm provides comprehensive development services, including planning, design and project management, to the real estate development community in the western United States.
Joseph Schlechten, a structural project manager with KPFF Consulting Engineers, has joined the firm’s Tacoma office. He has designed, managed and supervised construction of a variety of civil and structural engineering projects over the last 30 years. His areas of experience include industrial, marine and floating concrete structures, container yards and loading facilities, bridges and highways. Schlecten is currently working on a hangar relocation at the King County airport and the Proctor Street Bridge rehabilitation for the city of Tacoma. His previous experience includes the enclosure and foundations for Boeing’s new Transonic Wind Tunnel and the fast-track reconfiguration at the Light Structures Fabrication and Assembly Facility at Boeing’s Auburn site.
Economic and Engineering Services, Inc. announced several additions and promotions. Brad Bogus has joined the Tri-Cities office as a senior engineer. He has 10 years experience with water and wastewater treatment facilities. He was the project manager for the Lake Stevens Hypolimnetic Aeration Project, which won the Consulting Engineers Council of Washington Grand Design Award in 1995. Steve Harrison, senior project engineer, recently joined the Bellevue office. He has over 16 years of engineering experience, specializing in site development, surface water and construction management skills. Prior to joining EES he was a principal for a small civil/environmental consulting firm in Issaquah. Cyril Larson recently joined the Olympia office as project engineer, with over 10 years of design experience in planning, evaluation, design and construction management of water and wastewater facilities, and stormwater conveyance and treatment facilities. Rachel Dwyer is new in the Bellevue office as marketing coordinator. Betsy Brower is a new office assistant in Bellevue and Amanda Anderson was promoted to office manager in the Olympia office.
