Mayes Testing Engineers has promoted Tom Robinson to branch manager of its Tacoma office. In his new role, Robinson is responsible for managing the office's laboratory, field inspectors and local projects. He has over 20 years of materials testing and inspection experience. The Tacoma office has been open for five years, providing testing and inspection for projects like the Tacoma Art Museum and the Museum of Glass. Mayes also has offices in Everett and Portland.

Boeing named Kevin Brown vice president of its Air Traffic Management Programs. Brown replaces Kent Fisher, who was recently promoted to vice president in the marketing organization of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Brown was director of Puget Sound engineering for ATM, serving as deputy to the vice president of engineering and site leader for the unit's facility in Bellevue.

Meridian Technology Group

Meridian Technology Group hired Neil Griffiths as vice president of client development. Griffiths will work with clients in all Meridian's markets including Portland, Seattle, Phoenix and San Francisco. Griffiths worked for 11 years with Electronic Data Systems in Plano, Texas, most recently as president of its credit union industry group. Meridian is an information technology and software engineering consulting company based in Lake Oswego, Ore.

Mike Flynn, an agent in John L. Scott's University Place office in Tacoma, was named the Washington Association of Realtors' 2002 Realtor of the year. Flynn serves this year as the 15,000-member association's vice president of government affairs. He has been one of the principal architects of the Quality of Life Project, an advocacy program aimed at building better communities under the state Growth Management Act. He'll also represent the National Association of Realtors at a transportation roundtable hosted by the Urban Land Institute in Washington, D.C. "I’m an issues-driven type of person," Flynn said. "It makes me feel good to know I’m doing my part to help make Washington a better place to live."

John L. Scott Real Estate's West Seattle office added 10 new sales associates: Jack Angus, Cara Copeland, Dave Copeland, Scott Engstrom, Joyce Gunderson, Tracey Hunter, Brian Louderback, Chris Massie, Jan Rooney and Kari Scott. Three started in the Redmond office: Joy Andersen, Curtis Patterson and Bob Ahern. Three more began in Burien: Jirapon Keokitvon, Brad Howell and Melissa Galbavy. David Markwell became a sales associate in Des Moines. Seven joined the Issaquah office: David Arnold, Eliza Stephenson, Glenn Curtis, Brenda Poskitt, Kathy Skripek, Janet Kurz and Kathleen Irish.

Matt Schnell has been hired as staff engineer in the structural department of Integrus Architecture. Schnell worked at TLCP Galvin Structural in Spokane as a project engineer. At Integrus, he specializes in engineering analysis and design. He is currently working on the Butte-Silver Bow detention facility and law enforcement center in Butte, Mont.

Kennedy/Jenks

Celeste Low recently joined Kennedy/Jenks Consultants in Seattle as a senior associate engineer. Low has 13 years civil engineering experience, specializing in aviation projects. She joins the company's airport practice. She has extensive experience in development, design and management of airfield and airport projects, including runway, taxiway and apron design. She has completed projects at Salt Lake City International, Sea-Tac and Portland International.

@NewsByline:Freiheit & Ho Architects recently hired Sherri Grueneis and Daniel Brooks as architectural designers. Grueneis previously worked with Hill Partnership Inc., Architects in Newport Beach, Calif., where she was construction administrator for Sunrise Assisted Living facilities as well as other commercial projects. She will be managing Albertson's and the Coeur D'Alene Resort Golf Clubhouse, along with working on the Nez Perce Casino Resort. Brooks received his degree from Iowa State University and has previous experience in residential and ecclesiastical projects. His main focus will be on ecclesiastical, retail and office facilities.

White Shield

White Shield recently hired Thomas S. Barger in its Bellevue office. Barger is a professional land surveyor with 19 years of land survey and mapping experience. His background includes platting and subdivision, ALTA/ACSM surveys, route and utility mapping, topographic mapping, construction staking and boundary surveys throughout the Pacific Northwest. As the new survey manager for White Shield’s Bellevue Office, Barger will be responsible for overseeing the contract and project management for the Bellevue office, from estimate through completion, as well as the day to day operations.
