National Sign

National Sign has acquired S&S Sign Co. S&S has operated in Seattle since 1973 and will be run as a separate division of National Sign. S&S is credited with the design of several landmark signs including the Seattle Public Market, Five Spot Diner, Showbox and Pagliacci Pizza. National Sign was founded in Seattle in 1915.

Dimensions Design Center

The Bellevue based mirror, fine art and custom framing business, Dimensions Design Center has been purchased by Duane Dahl, former chief executive officer of Kiss.com and Udate.com. Dahl has members of the former Kiss.com development team developing Web-based tools and products to allow Dimensions to be more productive and efficient while completing projects. Dimensions has locations in Bellevue and Lynnwood with corporate offices in Bothell.

Nakano

Nakano Associates announced it has promoted Rob Fazio and Jenifer Rees to the positions of senior associates. The firm also recently hired Nicole Kistler and Tina Vincent as associate landscape designers.

Fazio's current projects include Holly Park Redevelopment Phase II, Washington State University Honors Hall and McCroskey Hall; Bellevue Transit Center; and Central Washington University's Kamola Hall and Sue Lombard Hall.

Rees' background includes work on recreation plans, new community master plans, residential developments, parks, college campuses and commercial properties. Current projects include Rainier Vista Redevelopment, the new commercial building at Fifth Avenue and Bell Street in Seattle and the Capitol Hill Library.

Nakano Associates specializes in landscape architecture, parks and recreation planning, and urban design for public and private clients.

W&H Pacific

Adam Haas has been promoted to vice president of telecommunications at W&H Pacific. He has worked at the firm for the past year as executive director of the company’s telecommunications consulting practice. His background includes work with cable television, telephony, wireless and broadband services.

Bothell-based W&H Pacific is a consulting/engineering firm of planners, surveyors, engineers and landscape architects serving the infrastructure development needs of clients throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Entranco

Entranco, a multi-disciplinary engineering and environmental consulting company, announced that Melissa Camp has joined Entranco as a business development specialist.

Camp will be working with Entranco’s site/civil group in business development, helping roll out a new marketing database, and developing a company-wide communications campaign.

ABKJ

Andersen Bjornstad Kane Jacobs, a Seattle-based civil and structural engineering firm, recently added four engineers to its building and transportation departments.

Tie Zong brings 19 years experience to the ABKJ building department and is currently assigned to the Gaston Memorial Hospital project in Gastonia, N.C., and the Sharp Hospital Modernization project in San Diego.

Steve Miller brings two years experience to the ABKJ building department, where he is working on the Sharp Hospital project.

Suzanne Kaminski brings 10 years experience to the ABKJ civil engineering department, where she is providing civil site work for Bartlett Memorial Hospital in Juneau, and St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma.

Aaron Sherry has four years experience in civil engineering and has been assigned to the University of Washington Bioengineering Lab project.

INCA

Russ Bauder has recently joined INCA Engineers in Bellevue, as a project manager in the transportation department. His responsibilities with INCA will include management and design of complex transportation projects. Bauder has 22 years of engineering experience in the design and construction of streets and highways throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Chuck Purnell recently joined INCA as a project manager in the Transportation Department. His responsibilities with INCA will include management and design of complex transportation-related projects. Purnell has managed and designed transportation, drainage, wastewater treatment and water supply projects.

SvR

SvR Design Co., a civil engineering, landscape architecture and environmental restoration firm has new additions to its Seattle office.

Joe Moon recently joined SvR as a civil engineer and brings 10 years of experience in both management and design. He is working on the civil design for the city of Seattle Fire Department and Seattle Public Utilities Combined Training Facility. He is also working on a community center and library, both part of the 120-acre High Point Housing and Garden Community Redevelopment.

Keri Hills joins SvR as CADD manager. With eight years of production experience, Hills manages the schedule, maintains standards and quality control for the drafting department.

Minuette Le joins SvR as marketing coordinator with five years of experience marketing for firms including NBBJ, Garry Struthers Associates and Berona Engineers.

Steve Burke has taken on the new role of project manager for Rainier Vista redevelopment for the Seattle Housing Authority. He is also working on a seven-building addition to the Evergreen State College, the Palisades Retreat Center for the Archdiocese of Seattle, the Echo Glen Vocational Building and Bellevue Fire Station No. 2. SvR is also brings on board summer intern Michelle Mobily, who is a senior at the University of Iowa.

CivilTech

CivilTech, a Bellevue structural, geotechnical, and software engineering firm, announced a returning senior staff member.

Michael Xue has rejoined the geotechnical group as lead geotechnical engineer. Xue has 20 years of experience in geotechnical investigations, engineering and design, and has experience in transportation projects in the Puget Sound region. He has also provided soils engineering for wastewater treatment plants and pump stations, water and fuel tanks, tunnels, low- to high-rise buildings, piers and wharves, and residential/commercial developments

White Center Community Development Association

The newly formed White Center Community Development Association has hired David Schraer as executive director and Lisa Phounsavath as summer program manager. Schraer is a commercial architect, former Peace Corps volunteer, and founder and first executive director of Queen City Community Development. Phounsavath is an MBA candidate at the University of Washington and will work as an intern through the Business and Economic Development Program. WCCDA received $105,000 in start-up funding from the Annie E. Casey Foundation, the Seattle Foundation and Impact Capital. The organization is initially charged with revitalizing downtown White Center and improving affordable housing in the neighborhood.
