PRR named Megan Blacksher human resources manager, Jessica Biel marketing coordinator, Katrina Seeley account manager and media planner, and Patricia Yi designer. The Seattle-based communications firm also promoted Dale Hammond from marketing coordinator to account executive in the company's integrated marketing department. Blacksher was previously human resources manager for Foote, Cone & Belding; Biel was previously marketing coordinator for Walker & Associates; Seely was previously account manager for Horton Lantz & Low; and Yi was a graphic designer for NBBJ.

Joe Zlab has been named associate at KPFF Consulting Engineers. Zlab, a structural engineer, is currently at work on the 1,000-vehicle Atlantic Central Base employee parking structure for King County and Bentall’s Summit office tower in Bellevue with LMN Architects.
Zlab’s work includes the Sunset Corporate Campus parking garage, Alaska Airlines Flight Training Center, the Bremerton Transportation Center A and B float superstructures for Washington State Ferries, and Building 5 at Redmond Town Center. He has also participated in studies for the Colman Dock Terminal for Washington State Ferries and Everett Brownfield, which identified the impacts and costs of converting an industrial brownfield into an office and retail complex. Zlab’s experience prior to KPFF includes several mixed-use high-rises and malls in Asia, and seismic projects in California.
Established in 1960, KPFF is a civil and structural engineering firm with 10 offices nationwide.
Portland architectural firm Thomas Hacker Architects appointed Jennifer Hoffman to associate. Hoffman joined T·H·A in 1995 after working in the Portland studio of Peggy Minter-McCants. At T·H·A, Hoffman served as project manager for six of the 17 branch library projects for Multnomah County Library. In addition to her project manager duties, Hoffman was responsible for construction administration on both the Holgate branch and the historic St. John's branch, and she served on the design team for the Fairview branch. Hoffman is on the design team for the 90,000-square-foot Spokane Academic Center for Washington State University and the Whitman College Site Utilization Study.
NBBJ Retail Design has hired Sandie Pope and Toki Wolf as strategic and creative leaders of a new multidisciplinary retail design studio. The studio launches a new program, "Come to Your Senses," bringing clients together with a variety of NBBJ designers to create sensory-rich, identity-building environments.
Pope is the new strategic director and Wolf is the new creative director. Graphic designers, interior designers, artists, industrial designers, media specialists, copywriters, behavioral psychologists, merchandisers and architects all take an active role here.
Over the past 15 years, NBBJ Retail Design has completed 700 stores and 2.7 million square feet of retail space, working with retailers to turn their brands into creative environments. "We stress the importance of good design to the brand strategy, whether developing a prototype or refining an existing concept," said Pope.
Erickson McGovern PLLC, an architectural firm in Tacoma, added three staff members.
Architect David Bertus has 21 years experience. He is currently working on the new Bonney Lake High School project for Sumner School District. Stan Zielinski, a registered architect, has 13 years of commercial design, construction and development experience. He is currently providing construction administration services on the new junior high school for Fife School District and is also working with the design team on the new Bonney Lake High School project for Sumner School District. Chad Thomas is a CAD production specialist. Thomas has 10 years of commercial drafting experience and is currently working on renovation of Washington High School in the Franklin Pierce School District.
The Bellevue office of Economic and Engineering Services, Inc. has hired Art Benedict, an experienced environmental engineer in drinking water, waste water, and storm water projects. He also has eight years experience teaching at the University of Washington and at Tufts University.
FSi consulting engineers, a mechanical engineering firm based in Pioneer Square, hired Amy M. Omenn as marketing coordinator. Omenn comes to FSi from URS Corp., where she marketed the health care industry for the commercial re-development division. Omenn's experience as a project coordinator, technical writer and marketing coordinator will allow FSI to expand its reach and involvement in local and regional projects.
Dale A. Anderson, an architect and specialist in sustainable design, re-joined Architects BCRA-Tsang, a Tacoma-based architectural firm. He had previously served as vice president and project manager with The Tsang Partnership from 1989 to 1999 before the firm was acquired by Architects BCRA.
In early 2001, Anderson became one of the first architects in the state to receive the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) professional accreditation through the U.S. Green Business Council. In 2002, he earned certification from the Sustainable Building Advisor Program at Seattle Central Community College. He is also an active member of the American Institute of Architects Committee on the Environment and the USGBC, Cascadia Chapter.
In addition to providing in-house sustainable design expertise, Anderson will also serve as a senior project manager with BCRA-Tsang. He has 29 years of design experience, including government, institutional and industrial projects during his previous history with the firm. Anderson is also a member of the AIA and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
Architects BCRA-Tsang provides services in architecture, civil engineering, interior design, urban planning, landscape architecture and construction management.
Jennifer McDonald recently joined AKI Landscape Architects as a landscape designer. McDonald has a strong background in environmentally sensitive design, soils and integrated pest management.
Also joining AKI is Lisa Guzman, formerly with Specialized Landscaping. Guzman's background includes 10 years of design and estimating experience with project designs for residential landscape construction. Guzman will provide project management, design and marketing for AKI.
Lacey-based AKI provides site planning, development services and permitting, recreation/sports facility design, and landscape master planning for a range of projects, from custom homes to commercial/industrial developments.
Overlake Hospital named Richard B. Clarfeld, MD and Kristi Harrington, MD to its surgical staff treating cancer patients. The two surgeons will join the hospital's breast cancer program. Overlake is currently redesigning and expanding its screening and diagnostic mammography centers and is assessing locations in Issaquah for a screening facility.
