Woodland Park Zoo

Mimi Haley is the new marketing director and Damian T. King was named human resources director at Woodland Park Zoo. Most recently, Haley was vice president, public affairs, for PacifiCare Health Systems. King previously served on the staff of the Boeing Engineering Employees in Aerospace and worked for the attorney general of Washington and for the city of Seattle.

Sienna Architecture

Sienna Architecture added Mark Evans, Michael Willis and Chris Brown to its Seattle office. Evans has more than 14 years experience in multi-family housing, mixed-use, office, retail and hospitality projects. He is a project manager/designer and is currently working on mixed-use and retail projects.

Willis has 11 years experience in urban mixed-use projects, multi-family housing and retail projects. He is a project manager and is currently working on the 23rd and Madison mixed-use project in Seattle.

Brown joins Sienna as an intern, with experience in corporate interiors, multi-family and single-family housing, and public projects. He is currently working on retail projects in the Seattle area.

Cross Engineers

Cross Engineers announced Wes McKean has become a LEED accredited professional. McKean has been with Cross for 10 years. McKean was the lead electrical design engineer for Islandwood, "A School in the Woods." This 255-acre educational facility on Bainbridge Island received a LEED Gold Certification. It is one of only nine Gold certified projects nationally. McKean is currently working on the new 75,000-square-foot Tacoma Police headquarters, with a LEED Gold certification goal, and the "environmentally intelligent" Teton Science School, a 200-acre educational facility located in Wyoming.

KJM & Associates

Carol Vanlandingham has joined the human resources team at the corporate office of KJM & Associates as a benefits specialist. Vanlandingham has more than 10 years experience in human resources, with expertise in employee benefits analysis and administration, including COBRA, for both large and small companies. Vanlandingham is a certified professional in human resources.

KJM & Associates is a Bellevue-based program and construction management firm specializing in the management and control of project time, cost and quality.

T∙H∙A

T∙H∙A recently made several promotions in its Portland office. Joann Hermance joined T∙H∙A in August 2002, and currently serves as project architect for the 90,000-square-foot classroom and office building at the new University of California campus in Merced.

Hunter Williams has served on the design team for the classroom and office building at UC Merced, and he will assume the role of project architect as that project enters construction administration.

Miguel Hidalgo joined as an architectural intern. Hidalgo received a Bachelors of Arts in archaeology and religion from Wesleyan University in Connecticut and a Master of Architecture from the University of Virginia, where he was awarded the AIA School Medal.

Weber + Thompson

Weber + Thompson announced the hiring of Gabriel Hanson. Hanson began his career assisting on high-end residential and commercial projects at Zimmerman Architecture while he earned his Masters of Architecture Degree from the University of Washington. He shifted his focus to multi-family and hospitality developments while at Johnson/Braund Design Group. Hanson brings 3-D modeling and graphics experience to explore design possibilities for the multi-family design group. He is currently working on Point Edwards, a water view development located on the former Unocal Tank Farm site in Edmonds.

KPFF Consulting Engineers

Wilson Hu has been named associate at KPFF Consulting Engineers. Hu, a structural project manager, has 10 years experience working on commercial, transit, and curtain wall projects.

Hu is the prime consultant project manager for the Eastgate Park-and-Ride Expansion, part of King County Metro’s multi-storied structured parking program. The expansion increases parking capacity to 1,700 stalls with a 1,400-stall parking structure. Hu works directly with King County, and leads a team of 12 subconsultants. He is also project manager for the Tzu Chi Foundation’s Tan Tzu Medical Center in Taiwan. Upon completion, it will be the largest base-isolated building in the world. His previous work includes Bentall’s Five Newport and The Summit in Bellevue, and the curtain wall design of the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur and the John Paul Getty Center in Los Angeles.

Neal Rider joined Argens as sales manager of the electronic security division. Previously, Rider managed security for Best Products. Argens, based in Seattle, designs and installs integrated security systems.
