Candela Architectural Lighting Consultants recently added Ben Kuritz as a lighting designer. Kuritz completed lighting design for library, commercial, education and museum projects as an intern with George Saxton Associates in Washington, D.C., prior to joining Candela. He is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America and Designers Lighting Forum

Candela offers architectural lighting services that range from commercial, educational and medical campuses to restaurants, civic centers, hotels and entertainment venues.

Hank Lewis, a 20-year veteran of Northwest construction, has joined Matson Carlson & Associates in Cashmere.

Lewis will provide estimating and constructability review services to architects and owners at all stages of design, from schematic to bid documents. Most recently, Lewis spent 12 years as chief estimator for WPC, Inc, a design-build contractor based in Gig Harbor.

Matson Carlson is a cost estimating consultancy, with offices in Puget Sound and Eastern Washington.

Jensen Maritime Consultants, a Seattle-based naval architecture firm recently named Stephen Gleaves president.

Prior to rejoining JMC as executive vice president last fall, he was electrical section supervisor for Washington State Ferry System 's vessel design group. He also operated an independent marine electrical systems engineering/consulting company. Gleaves replaces Susan Williams, who will remain with the company as director of finance and administration.

JMC is a designer of fishing vessels in the Northwest, and designs more tractor tugs than any other design firm in the continental U.S. JMC offers electrical engineering in addition to naval architecture and marine engineering design services.

Reid Middleton

Lance Lum recently received his Washington civil engineering professional engineer's license and was promoted to project engineer at Reid Middleton.

Lum has worked on building analysis and design for the U.S. Navy. Lum has used performance-based design criteria, which requires an understanding of seismic design and finite element analysis procedures. He is involved in projects for the Port of Seattle at Fishermen's Terminal and the city of Edmonds' mid-waterfront seawall and pedestrian walkway project.

Surinder Mann has joined KPFF Consulting Engineers. Mann brings 12 years of experience on large-scale, complex projects such as airports, stadia and corporate facilities.

Mann collaborated with Gensler and DeSteffano on design of O'Hare International Airport Terminal 6 in Chicago, and with Moshe Safdie on the concept design for the Ben Gurion International Airport Airside Terminal in Tel Aviv. He was lead structural engineer for the Miller Park Stadium, the new home of the Milwaukee Brewers which features the first fan-shaped retractable roof. His corporate experience includes the design of the DreamWorks SKG Animation Campus in California; Eland House, which straddles the subway tunnel in London; and the Hansol Corporate Offices in Seoul.

Emick Howard & Seibert announced the addition of Dean Longwell, senior project manager; John Hibbard, project manager; Iren Fang; and Valerie Robbins.

Longwell's experience as a project manager and designer includes commercial, retail, laboratory, multi-family housing, recreational and public works. Longwell was project manager on Woodinville Retail Center, Crystal Creek Center retail development, Tully's Coffee Shop prototype and roll-outs, and Zymogenetics.

Hibbard's 14 years of experience includes work with software, telecom and engineering industries doing design, space planning and project management. He has also been responsible for planning and building analysis for over 600,000 square feet of corporate office, retail and medical spaces, including tenant improvements for Puget Sound Energy and in the Summit Building.

Fang has 12 years experience with architecture, construction management and contract administration in Washington and Florida. He has worked on residential, retail, educational and government projects.

Robbins' background includes restaurant prototypes, interior renovations, corporate offices and assisted-living facilities.
