Chase is overseeing projects at Washington State University, University of Washington and Western Washington University. Past work on community colleges includes planning and design at Highline Community College and South Seattle Community College.

He has done urban redevelopment at Lincoln Square in Bellevue, International District Village Station, REI flagship store and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center on South Lake Union.

Smith join the construction services section as inspectors for western Washington private and public works projects. Clint D. Stanton provides CAD drafting services. James D. Anderson is computer systems administrator for headquarters and branch offices in Tigard, Ore., and Pasco.

Senior landscape architect Douglas R. Lee received awards for design on the Discovery Courtyard at the Washington State School for the Blind. Separate awards were given by the aggregate and concrete associations of Washington and Oregon.

Kathryn Kerns has been hired by BCE Engineers. She has 20 years of experience in the HVAC-control industry. She is lead engineer on all of BCE's HVAC control designs as well as special projects such as Bates Technical College South Campus Control System Replacement, Pierce College Major HVAC Repairs and Northwood Elementary (Puyallup) HVAC and Controls Repair.

BCE added Brian Robinett, who graduated from WSU and has been with BCE since his internship in 2001. Robinett is working on a terminal for the Port of Tacoma and a fire station headquarters for Port Townsend.

BCE also added four mechanical engineers. Jeff Hardwick interned with BCE and is working on projects at Tacoma Community College and Pierce College. Joe Snyder is the assistant project engineer for a Tacoma Water Administration building, and is working on Ocean Shores Elementary and a new elementary school for Bethel school district. Jenna Knittel is currently assisting with design of Yelm Junior High and the new Bethel School Districts Junior High School.

Jennifer Eagle is director of interior design and will head a new interior design studio. Eagle has 12 years of design and construction management experience, and has managed hospitality and commercial projects.

Elliott Bay Design Group added two to its staff. Eric Talley is a senior designer and Michael Johnson a computer systems administrator. Talley has 16 years of pipe system construction and design experience, and is designing a firemain system for the Seattle Police Boat. Johnson has 15 years of information technology experience, including work as a software test engineer at Microsoft.

Liz White earned her professional engineering license in naval architecture and marine engineering. She supports design of a 255-foot, double-ended passenger and vehicle ferry for The Steamship Authority, to operate between Martha's Vineyard and Woods Hole, Mass.

Cary Kopczynski & Co.

The Bellevue structural engineering firm Cary Kopczynski & Co. promoted John Tessem to senior principal. The firm provides structural engineering services for buildings and parking structures around the country. Tessem managed structural engineering for high-rise hotels, residential and mixed-use towers, office buildings, convention centers and parking structures. He is managing structural design of the 27-story Cristalla condos and the 25-story Hotel 1000, both in downtown Seattle.
