John L. Scott Real Estate

John L. Scott Chairman and CEO J. Lennox Scott says last month was the best October in the company's 73-year history. He attributes the success to low interest rates and an improving economy. Bainbridge Island agents Marnie Arlen and Jim Valentine have earned the Accredited Buyer's Representative designation from the National Association of Realtors. Arlen also earned the Real Estate Institute's Graduate Realtors Institute designation. Peter J. Mills and Dorothy Natterstad are new agents at the company's Lynnwood West office.

Columbia Bank

Columbia Bank designated new members to its commercial banking group. Senior vice presidents in retail banking are Wayne Mannie and Dan Patjens. Team leaders are senior vice president John Manolides and vice president Jim Williams. Columbia is a wholly owned subsidiary of Columbia Banking System with 34 branches in Pierce, King, Cowlitz, Kitsap and Thurston counties.

Bremerton's Rice Fergus Miller Architecture and Planning hired Sirima Rajpreeja, Jeremy Southerland and John Ales. Rajpreeja is a technical designer working on housing, fire and emergency service projects. Southerland and Ales are project designers. Southerland will focus on health care and community projects. Ales will concentrate on single and multifamily housing. Partner Mike Miller recently received his NCARB certificate. Ales earned LEED certification. Rice Fergus Miller is an architecture, planning and interior design firm.

Penhallegon Associates

Amie Broadsword recently earned her professional engineering license. Broadsword is a senior engineer who has worked with Penhallegon for five years. She is working on Lake Tapps Elementary School, Skagit Valley Hospital and drainage studies for King County Department of Natural Resources.

David Evans and Associates

Kenneth M. Wightman was named chief executive officer of Portland-based David Evans and Associates. Wightman succeeds founder vDave Evans, who will remain chairman of the board. With 35 years of engineering and surveying experience, Wightman is principal-in-charge for many of DEA's clients. The company's 850 staff work on transportation, land development, water resources and energy projects around the world.

Brown and Caldwell

The environmental planning, design and construction management firm of Brown and Caldwell recently added to its Seattle office.

Corinne Jeuch was hired as a design engineer and has experience with master plans, general sewer plans, conveyance/treatment facilities and construction assistance. Jane Lindsey joins as a financial planner. Scott Rogers is joining as a senior engineer and has experience in analysis, design, and construction of wastewater and water facilities.

Brown and Caldwell has also made additions to the electrical and instrumentation and controls department. Trey Morris has joined as a principal instrumentation and controls engineer, Ken Westerberg as an instrumentation and controls designer, Bryan Brittan and Dean Kandlik as electrical designers, and Eric Schmitt as an electrical engineering intern.

Other recent additions included Hillman Reed, senior pipeline designer in the CAD department and Donna Morgan as an administrative assistant for Brown and Caldwell's Olympia office.

Dykeman

Scott Schreffler joined Dykeman as an intern architect. Schreffler has worked on green design for family townhomes, senior apartments and mixed-use developments. He was in the Eco-Building Guild and has been a steering committee member of Seattle AIA's committee on the environment.

Entranco

Bellevue-based Entranco announced that Dennis Cearns has been appointed by its board of directors as CEO and president, succeeding Gary Van Wieringen. Cearns has served as senior vice president and Bellevue branch manager since joining the firm in February of 2003. He becomes the company's fifth president since the firm's founding in 1961.

The board also appointed Gil Walker, vice president and branch manager for Entranco's Boise office, as a director.
