The Seattle-based architecture firm Place Architects added Mary Kohl and Scott Voelker. Kohl does interior retail and residential design. She ran her own company, Transformer, and designed the Vespa store in Belltown. Voelker, who is doing residential remodels, was with Northwest Architectural Co.

San Diego-based Kleinfelder added David Cotton to its Bellevue office as Seattle area manager. Cotton will oversee operations and business management in western Washington. Cotton has done geotechnical projects in Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Alaska, Utah, Nevada, California, Arizona and Georgia. He was a principal at Golder Associates, where he managed business, sales and projects for the company's Northwest office. Kleinfelder does work for government agencies, multinational companies and industrial clients.

Seattle's Hargis Engineers added associates Vernon Enns, Ron Eliason and Erik Stearns. Terry Potvin and Paul Songe-Moller are mechanical project managers with design and construction administration expertise. Enns has done mechanical design and consulting for schools. Eliason will do mechanical consulting and manage projects, and Stearns will work on high tech, hospitality and higher education projects. Hargis is a mechanical, electrical and telecommunications engineering and consulting firm.

Skillings-Connolly

Skillings-Connolly promoted Alison Hepburn in its Lacey headquarters to environmental geologist. She was in marketing, but will now do field investigation and environmental documentation. Rachel Mehrtens was promoted to marketing coordinator. After 31 years with Washington State Department of Transportation as an ombudsman, Deb Gregory joined Skillings-Connolly as a senior administrative assistant. Engineer Kelly Harris has returned to Lacey from the Missoula, Mont., office. Harris has 15 years of experience in traffic engineering, roadway design and traffic operations and impact studies. Engineer-in-training Brandon Johnson will help developers with utility, water and stormwater projects. Stephen Lincoln, also a training engineer, will help local and state agencies with wastewater and transportation projects. Kerry Dudley joined as office administrator after four years in the Missoula, Mont., office. Michelle Rhodes is a project administrator. Rhodes has more than a decade of accounting experience. Lauren Behm is a marketing assistant. Shauna Kirk, Thomas Bieker and Chris Lowe are engineering technicians. John Henry is a college student and work/study engineering technology intern. Skillings-Connolly does engineering, environmental, real estate and surveying work. It is headquartered in Lacey.

Callison plans and designs retail, hospitality, mixed-use, health care, and corporate projects.

Pope is an associate principal, and will work on expanding the firm's market reach in retail. She has 25 years of experience in interior design, including work at Nordstrom, Nike and the Gap.

Tacoma-based Architects Rasmussen Triebelhorn added John Marx, Steve Moore, Chris Ackerman, Emily Ko and Theresa Hjelm. Marx is a project architect and has more than 20 years of experience. He is working on criminal justice facilities. Moore, a graduate of Southern Illinois University, is a job captain for renovations at Pierce County Superior Courts. Ackerman has finished his internship after four years with the firm, and will continue to work on projects, and manage computer hardware and software. Ko, an intern, is a junior at the University of Washington School of Architecture. Hjelm is an office manager and bookkeeper.

Several people recently joined the staff at DKA Architects. Chet Wing has 24 years of experience working on health care projects with construction budgets up to $400 million, such as the San Bernadino County Medical Center. He has been managing the $9 million Asian Counseling and Referral Services Building. Darrell Turner is LEED-accredited and brings 23 years of architectural experience, specializing in medical and commercial projects. He is working on pediatric dental clinic. John Rose has more than 25 years of experience in corporate interiors, health care and religious facilities. He is currently doing projects for St. John Baptist Church and Holgate Street Church of Christ. Mitch Yockey's experience includes mixed-use, banks and churches. He specializes in single-family and multi-family housing projects, and a number have been published in Custom Home and Fine Homebuilding magazines.

Gail Merth and Ali Keyhan-Fard recently joined BCRA. The firm also added Carol Pribyl and Ashley Rentz as executive studio assistants. Merth has previous experience in K-12 and higher educational facilities, working on projects such as the A.G. West — Black Hills High School in Tumwater, and the Technical Education Facility at South Puget Sound Community College.

Keyhan-Fard has a background in urban planning and health care in Portland. Rentz has previous experience as an office manager and Pribyl was previously in office administration. BCRA's recent projects include the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium's Kid's Zone and Charles Wright Academy's new Carol B. Milgard Lower School.

Portland's Walker Macy added landscape designer Christopher Miller. He was with a design firm in Germany, and has expertise in ecology, molecular biology and sustainable stormwater management. Walker Macy does site planning and design for parks and recreation facilities, urban plazas and streetscapes.

The Portland office of Parametrix added Derek Chisholm and Colin MacLaren. Chisholm has 13 years of experience in visioning, design and policy work and worked in long range planning for Clark County. He will work in the firm's natural resources and planning division. MacLaren is completing a master's degree in fluvial geomorphology at Oregon State University, with a focus is on river restoration and dam removal. MacLaren joined the Environmental Policy and Planning Division and is leading an Oregon Department of Transportation project to develop a mitigation bank in the Goose Lake Basin in southern Oregon.

Elizabeth Thorstenson has joined Portland-based Mayer/Reed as a landscape designer. She is working on two mixed-use developments in downtown Portland and a dining center for Oregon State University in Corvallis. She was a project manager with Bradley Design Group of Tacoma, and has worked on parks and trails as well as commercial projects. Mayer/Reed does landscape architecture, urban design and environmental graphic design.

The Transpo Group

The Transpo Group, a transportation planning and engineering company, added Patrick Lynch and Fusan Lin to its Kirkland office. Lynch is a senior transportation planner who was with the city of Woodinville. Fusan has eight years of experience, and specializes in traffic operations and signal systems design.

Clark/Kjos Architects

Clark/Kjos Architects promoted Erin Couch, Matt Ottinger and Naomi Coplin to associates. Couch is working on hospital projects. Ottinger does construction administration. Coplin leads the Clark/Kjos interior design studio. The firm has offices in Portland and Seattle, and specializes in health care.

Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership

Kalman H. Axelrod has joined the Seattle office of Zimmer Gunsul Frasca as a principal. He has 35 years of experience, including planning and design work for medical centers in Seattle, Sacramento and Palo Alto, Calif. He will lead a team working on the St. Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor.
