Sclater Partners Architects promoted Michael Chaplin to associate principal and hired project architect Greg Thompson. Chaplin's most recent projects include Lincoln Square, the skybridges over Bellevue Way and Northeast Eighth, Woodinville Lumber, and the Barnes and Noble store at Northgate. He is senior project manager for Lincoln Square 2, the tunnel connecting Lincoln Square and Bellevue Place, and the Bellevue Square renovation. Thompson is a design team member on Lincoln Square 2 and a new office/retail building in Redmond.

Landau Associates' Tacoma office hired Theresa Turpin as senior environmental planner, Steve Juhlin as associate geotechnical engineer and Jessica Stone as staff scientist. Turpin has 20 years of experience and previously worked for the city of Tacoma and Parametrix. Juhlin has more than 11 years of experience and specializes in foundation design for wind turbines. Stone will provide natural resources and planning assistance. The Edmonds office hired Chad McMullen as project geotechnical engineer, Kelley Wrigg as associate engineer, Cody Nelson as CADD operator, Anthony Farinacci as staff hydrogeologist and Kristi Schultz as project coordinator. McMullen was the technical director for the soils laboratory at Shannon & Wilson. Wrigg has 14 years of experience in the local civil/planning consulting industry with expertise in stormwater drainage, site grading and sanitary sewer and water system design. Nelson has focused on design for the past four years. Farinacci is in the environmental group. Schultz has 10 years of editing and proofreading experience.

Ankrom Moisan Associated Architects hired architectural interns Mikki Rogers, Ashley Falkin and Michelle Pak; interior designers Melissa Goldman, Heather Hayes and Lisa Luchaco; and IT support Nick Trout. Rogers specializes in single-family residential design and has worked on vacation homes and custom homes. Rogers is working on the Folsom Station Project, a collection of four buildings designed around a historic train turntable in Folsom, Calif., and a condo project in Bend, Ore. Falkin has six years of experience. Past projects include multiple Washington Mutual branch banks. Falkin is working on the Pine Street Condominiums project, a multi-use residential development on Capitol Hill for the Stratford Co. Pak is working on construction administration for Axis Condominiums, a $100 million, 443,000-square-foot, 22-story luxury development in San Jose. Interior designer Goldman worked previously at a hospitality design firm and is working on The Avalon Towers Bellevue, a mixed-use high-rise apartment building. At her previous firm, Hayes' focus was on hospitality. She is doing corporate work for Wells Fargo. Luchaco is part of the hospitality team in Portland and is working on a Wyndham vacation ownership resort in Steamboat Springs, Colo. Trout is part of the IT department. He has a background in technical support and customer service and is a Microsoft-certified support technician.

Denny Cearns joined the Bellevue office of David Evans and Associates as regional transportation manager. Prior to joining the firm, he was the northwest region manager for DMJM Harris. In the Tacoma office, Al Tebaldi and Steve Shanafelt were hired as senior project managers. Tebaldi has more than 30 years of experience in municipal traffic engineering, with more than 10 years managing the city of Tacoma's engineering division. Shanafelt has more than 30 years of municipal and public works experience. He was the engineering division manager for the city of Tacoma.

Candela Lighting Design & Consulting hired Mikki Kunz and Joseph Montange as lighting designers. Kunz is working on the Vancouver Mall and the Highline Heritage Museum in Burien. Montange is working on University Place Civic Building in Seattle, and New Moon Overlook at the Galisteo Basin Preserve in New Mexico.

Cannon Design

Cannon Design appointed James Balzli to associate in the Los Angeles office. Since joining Cannon Design in 2006, Balzli has worked on the Los Angeles Mission College Health & PE Fitness Center. Balzli also worked in collaboration with the Yazdani Studio of Cannon Design on the Museum of Tolerance. As western region pre-licensing coordinator, Balzli fosters the growth and development of young professionals in the Los Angeles and San Francisco offices.

GeoEngineers hired Marcelle Lynde as an associate in the Redmond office. Lynde has more than 25 years of experience with environmental issues in the Pacific Northwest. Much of her work has been focused on aquatic and fisheries science, including freshwater and marine environments, most recently in the hydropower industry. She has worked with private developers, the commercial fishing industry and local, state and federal agencies.

BHC Consultants hired Chen-Wei Shen as senior engineer. Shen has more than 30 years of experience in municipal and industrial water and wastewater systems. He led a sludge management study in Beijing and is working on wastewater treatment improvements for Fay Bainbridge State Park.

Tacoma's Helix Design Group hired four people. Diane Thomas joined the interior design department. She has more than 20 years of experience in commercial design, specializing in hospitality. She is working on retail, military and tenant improvement projects. Chris Spadafore is working on several retail projects including the Acura auto dealership at Southcenter. Ali Keyhan-Fard is a member of the team working on several commercial and light industrial projects. Eli Alampay has experience in retail and institutional design and is skilled in 3-D rendering and animation. He is working on the Lexus of Tacoma auto dealership.

Bill Hutchinson, who worked 20 years in the firm's Portland office, is working on Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center. His past projects include Denver Children's Hospital and Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland. Lance Christopher Hayes has more than four years of experience and is working on a corporate office building for a technology client. Past projects include hotels at Yellowstone National Park and the Montana State Capitol. Matthew Weighall is also working on a corporate building for a tech client. Maria Eva Contesti is working on the Iowa State University Biorenewables Complex. Past work includes a master plan for a mixed-use complex in Shenzen, China, and a project in Dubai. Gustavo Lopez is working with the Fifth & Columbia Tower project team. Matthew Ford has joined ZGF as an architectural intern and is working on construction administration at the North Carolina Cancer Hospital. Domonique Williamson has joined as a project assistant and projects include the ConAgra Headquarters, Microsoft Buildings 81 and 83, and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Shannon Chang is a project assistant working on the Fifth & Columbia team. Jessica Harrison joined the Seattle office as a project assistant and is working on Providence Everett Medical Center and University of North Carolina teams.
