NAC|Architecture promoted Dan Jardine to principal and Brent Compton, Philip Riedel, Tom Stroeher and Randall Wilson to associate principals. Jardine has more than 27 years of experience managing the design and construction of health care projects, including clinics, diagnostic suites, patient wings, birth centers and psychiatric facilities. Compton is a high school designer and planner with more than 27 years of experience and a portfolio of more than 4 million square feet of educational projects. Riedel has eight years with the firm, and his previous projects have included the award-winning Wilson High School for Tacoma Public Schools. Stroeher, chief financial officer, has been with the firm for two years. He is working on accounting practices for the firm's multiple offices. Wilson has 24 years of design and project management experience. He was the project manager for the award-winning West Valley High School in Spokane.

Sparling hired Jayson Tabil, Craig Putnam and Davin Almeida as computer-aided design specialists. Sparling also hired James Gibbs as IT specialist and Anita Plaschka as application developer in the IT department. Tabil has a background in electrical engineering studies and has worked as a CAD drafter/designer for two years. Putnam has 24 years of experience as a draftsman designer. Almeida has more than seven years of experience in the field. Gibbs is an information technology specialist with more than 16 years of experience. Before joining Sparling, Gibbs was an application specialist for a nonprofit agency in Snohomish County. Plaschka has worked on IT solutions since 1999. She has previous experience with Best Consulting, Boeing and Weyerhaeuser, among others.

Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates

Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, a firm of structural engineers, architects and materials scientists, hired Zeno Martin in its Seattle office. Martin has 10 years of engineering experience with wood structures. His expertise includes evaluating engineered-wood products, creating design guidelines and evaluating structural code compliance. Martin worked for a major trade association in the engineered-wood industry, where he also provided professional consulting services.

Mithun

Seattle's Mithun hired Don Carlson as principal, Sandie Pope as director of interior design and Karen Janosky as associate principal. Carlson's firm, Carlson Architects, recently merged with Mithun. He will focus on institutional and education clients. Pope was an associate principal in retail at Callison Architects and the retail director at NBBJ. Janosky has experience designing large civic park projects and master plans, including two $14 million civic parks.

Dykeman announced that Michael A. Stevens has received his architecture license. Stevens joined Dykeman in 2007 and has 10 years of experience. He is working on a financial administrative office building in Bellingham, a retail complex in Mukilteo and several tenant improvement projects. The firm also hired four people. Darek Olson was hired as project designer in the retail studio. Olson has more than 15 years of experience. Dykeman also hired Michael Olson and Andrea Jensen in its graphic and Web design division. Both have worked for design firms in the area. Olson has 10 years of experience as a graphic designer and creative director while Jensen has experience as a copywriter, PR professional and business development associate. Jack DeYoung was also hired as a member of the graphics team.

Enginuity Systems is a new company providing mechanical engineering services for the Puget Sound area. Bruce Gustafson is president and Jesse Barksdale is vice president. The firm hired four employees: Andre Faulkner, Yan-Hon “Moses” Chong, Brian Middlebrook, and Won-Tai “Michael” Au-Yeung. Gustafson has practiced mechanical engineering for more than 30 years. Barksdale has 10 years of experience in mechanical design. Chong specializes in energy analysis. Middlebrook is designing a boiler replacement for Pantages Theater in Tacoma. Au-Yeung is working at Fort Lewis. Faulkner has seven years of experience in plumbing and piping design.

Coffman Engineers hired Heather Keith as a construction projects administrator. Keith has nine years of experience with a focus on design and layout of playgrounds, skate parks and commercial gym and spa equipment. Her past projects include Wiggums Hollow Park in Everett, Pratt Park in Seattle and Edgewater Park in Mount Vernon.

Winter
Boston-based Haley & Aldrich, an environmental, engineering and management firm, hired David G. Winter as senior vice president. He has 27 years of experience in urban design and construction monitoring of high-rise buildings and managing multi-state environmental assessment and cleanup projects.

Parametrix

Hanenburg
Auburn-based Parametrix, which specializes in engineering, planning and environmental sciences, has promoted Jeanna Hanenburg to director of human resources. Hanenburg has been with the firm for eight years, and worked as interim director of human resources for the past year. Hanenburg will act as an advisor to the executive team, overseeing the development of recruitment, retention, employee development initiatives and HR programs for more than 600 employee-owners
