NAC|Architecture promoted Matt Rumbaugh, Steve Shiver and Tom Stroeher to principal; Dan Kurtz and Melissa McFadgen to associate principal; Michael Cole and Karee Loghry to senior associate; and Janet Baumgartner, KaLee Paul-Quanz, Jason Romine, David Shaffer and Lukas Shu to associate. Rumbaugh has done a number of education projects, including the Kirkland Junior High School modernization and Little Cedars Elementary School, winner of a 2009 Learning By Design citation of excellence. Shiver has been project manager for Cavelero Mid High School and Western State Hospital. Stroeher is the chief financial officer and provides input on corporate strategic direction and initiatives. Kurtz is in the health care group and is working on the Cascade Medical Center addition and remodel, and Kootenai Medical Center. McFadgen was project manager for the Spokane Falls Community College sn-w'ey'-mn Building, and her projects include the SFCC campus classroom building. Cole is project manager for renovation of Eastern Washington University's Patterson Hall and co-project manager for the Eisenhower High School replacement. Loghry collaborates with the firm's architectural and interiors teams in production, specifications and construction administration. Baumgartner provides creative and technical support to corporate marketing and information-technology functions. Paul-Quanz is human resources director. Romine is a member of the educational design group, and his projects include First Creek Middle School and Glacier View Junior High School. Shaffer has worked on Ardmore Elementary School and Bellevue High School. Shu's projects include Snohomish High School and the University of Washington's Hutchinson Hall drama design studio remodel. NAC has offices in Seattle, Spokane, Los Angeles and Denver, with a staff of more than 150.

GeoEngineers

Ramos
Michelle Ramos has joined GeoEngineers as an associate geotechnical engineer in the Redmond office. Ramos has 14 years experience in geotechnical engineering, with an emphasis on trenchless design and the water/wastewater industry. Previously, she was a senior project engineer with Staheli Trenchless Consultants. Ramos' work includes the Tulalip water pipeline in Everett and the Ballard siphon replacement project in Seattle. She also is chair of the Northwest chapter of the North American Society for Trenchless Technology. Seattle-based GeoEngineers is an earth science, engineering and technology firm with 15 offices in seven states.

BLRB Architects

Wegener
BLRB Architects promoted John Wegener to senior principal; David Pool to associate principal; and David Boileau to associate. Wegener has been with the firm since 1999, and has 30 years of experience in development and design of educational facilities. He has managed $140 million in projects for BLRB including Mount Tahoma High School, Curtis Junior High School and higher education projects. Pool was hired in 2005 as a project manager. His projects include the physical education/performing arts center addition for Garfield High School and the new Pacific Plaza building. Boileau joined the firm in 2004. He has led development of the intern program and overseen the BIM team. His projects include Panther Lake Elementary School and the Puyallup High School east campus addition, phase I. BLRB designs educational and other public/community projects.

SSA Acoustics

SSA Acoustics has promoted Alan Burt to associate partner. He has been with the firm for six years. He provides consultation for mechanical system noise and vibration, architectural acoustics, environmental noise and audiovisual systems. He recently passed the Oregon engineering acoustics exam and is a member of ASHRAE.

Bohlin Cywinski Jackson

Ray Calabro has been named a principal of Bohlin Cywinski Jackson. He joins principal Robert Miller in leading the Seattle office. Calabro began his career with the Pittsburgh office in 1995. Based in Seattle since 1999, he is responsible for leading the design and documentation for several cultural facilities, including Turtle Bay Visitor Center and Museum in Redding, Calif., and the Grand Teton Discovery and Visitor Center in Jackson, Wyo. He is working on publication of a monograph on the firm's work to be published by Rizzoli in the spring.

Reid Middleton

Moon
Reid Middleton promoted Brian Moon to principal and announced that Shanna Vasser earned her Washington state civil engineering license. Moon, a structural engineer with 27 years of experience, was hired in 1999. His recent work includes the city of Edmond's Frances Anderson Center seismic retrofit and management of structural engineering projects for military contracts. Vasser has five years in the industry and works in the airport engineering group. Reid Middleton is an Everett-based engineering, planning and surveying firm.

DKA Architecture

DKA Architecture hired Julie Koch to head the interiors group. She has worked for 30 years with local, state and federal agencies, and corporate clients on projects in the United States. As a senior interior designer she does space programming and planning, tenant improvements, ADA assessment, furnishings selection and development of bid packages.

Mark Liebman
Mark Liebman joined the Redmond office of Golder Associates. He will head up a new forensic building science practice area. He has 20 years of experience conducting forensic investigations using geophysical techniques and non-destructive testing. Alec Liebman will assist him as a staff forensic investigator. Marie DeMeo also joined the Redmond office as an executive assistant supporting the firm's national health and safety director. Golder is a global group of consulting companies specializing in geotechnical engineering and environmental services.

Kleinfelder

Knechtel
Grant Knechtel joined Kleinfelder's Redmond office. He has 30 years in the industry and will supervise daily operations where construction materials, soil and rock testing are offered. Knechtel's expertise is in soil strength testing by triaxial, direct shear and oedometer methods, and soil index testing. Clients include Northwest ports, as well as commercial and industrial firms.

2020 Engineering

Randall

2020 Engineering hired Matt Randall as project manager to meet increasing demand for sustainable civil engineering services. Randall has nearly 10 years of civil engineering design experience. He will manage projects that use sustainable and low-impact development for health care, commercial, residential and education clients. Bellingham-based 2020 has researched, planned and/or designed low impact development, LEED and living building projects in the United States and Canada.
