Olson Kundig

Kudo-King

Kevin M. Kudo-King has become an owner of Olson Kundig. He joined the Seattle firm 19 years ago as an intern architect, and became an associate in 2004 and a principal in 2010. He works on houses, museums, resorts, and mixed-use and institutional projects. He led design of Tacoma Art Museum's Haub Gallery with fellow firm owners Tom Kundig and Kirsten R. Murray, and played a significant role on Bellevue Botanical Garden's Visitor Center, working with owner Jim Olson. His projects have received Chicago Athenaeum's American Architecture Award and National AIA Honor Awards. Kudo-King also oversees marketing and business development.

In Seattle, global design firm B+H Architects hired Christa Clark Jansen as a senior interior designer and Emily Kelly as office manager. Jansen has 18 years of experience on hospitality, retail, offices and public spaces. Her projects have included retail repositionings, renovations, expansions and tenant improvements, for clients such as Microsoft and Alaska Airlines. Kelly has experience in marketing, office administration and customer service.

Mard Mehdiabadi is focusing on senior living and community projects. She has a bachelor's in architecture from the University of Washington and a master's in architecture from the University of Michigan. Groves has over 10 years of experience and will do hospitality and senior living projects. Limson Cole is an architect with over 20 years of experience in retail and multifamily design. She will do senior housing. Mukavetz has over 25 years of architectural experience and will work on senior projects. Morgan has 15 years of experience as an architect, health care designer and project manager, and will work on health care projects. Bremerton-based Rice Fergus Miller is an architecture, interior design and planning firm.

Julio Vela and Greg Landau rejoined the Portland office of GeoEngineers as a geotechnical principal and senior geotechnical engineer, respectively. They will spearhead geotechnical engineering projects in Oregon and Washington. Vela will open a satellite office in Salem. Vela has over 19 years of geotechnical engineering experience in the Northwest, including 14 years with another engineering firm. He has worked on high-rises, roads, bridges, highways and public works. Landau has over 16 years of geotechnical experience on bridges, roadways, dams, waterfront structures, landfills, public utilities and development projects in Oregon. GeoEngineers is an earth science, engineering and technology consulting firm with 14 U.S. offices.

Mackenzie promoted Michael Chen and Nabil Kausal-Hayes to senior associates in its Seattle office. Chen is branch manager, and brings 16 years of experience to the land-use planning department. He has worked on The Salvation Army Family Store in Seattle and Kelsey Creek Center in Bellevue. Kausal-Hayes is an engineer whose projects include Buckley Fire Station and Bonney Lake Justice Center. Mackenzie is a West Coast provider of architecture and interior design; structural, civil and traffic engineering; land use and transportation planning; and landscape architecture.

They will work on restoration and development projects in western states. LaPierre has 31 years of experience in landscape architecture and urban design, and recently completed a master plan for Edith Moulton Park in Kirkland. O'Brien has over 25 years of experience that includes streetscapes, community trails, parks and stormwater facilities. He has worked on Hawthorne Park in Clackamas County. ESA is a West Coast-based environmental science and planning firm.
