Salus Architecture promoted Douglas McNutt to principal and hired David Spangler as a project architect and Jin Wan as an intern architect. In his new position, McNutt will be more involved in strategic planning. He has 30 years of experience in educational, research/technology, health care, long-term care, commercial and housing projects. Spangler has over 20 years of experience in architecture, design and project management. He will work on health care projects. Wan holds a bachelor's in landscape architecture from Sichuan University in China and a master's in architecture from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. Salus specializes in health care facilities.
PCS Structural Solutions hired Julie Chappel as a project engineer, Kevin Rothrock as an associate, and McKell Bowen and Jonathan Callans as design engineers. Chappel has six years of industry experience, including previously at PCS, where she worked on Seattle University's Connolly Center. Rothrock has 15 years of experience and is working on the Tacoma Convention Center Hotel. Bowen has a year of experience and is working on Marina Apartments in Des Moines. Callans holds bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from Villanova University in Pennsylvania. He is working on the Swedish First Hill campus.
Parametrix hired Benn Burke as a senior consultant in Seattle. Burke will do project management and business development for the environmental practice. He is an environmental specialist, project manager and operational group leader with over 24 years of experience. He was with SWCA Environmental Consultants. Parametrix provides engineering, planning and environmental sciences, with offices in the western U.S.
ESM Consulting Engineers hired Clark Kunitsugu as a project manager in Federal Way. Kunitsugu worked at ESM for five years. He is supporting work with residential builders and developers. ESM provides civil engineering, surveying, planning, GIS and landscape architecture.
Tacoma-based McGranahan Architects promoted Mitchell Kent to principal and Matthew Bissen to director of design and research. Kent has 20 years of experience with educational facilities and is senior project manager on Olympic Hills Elementary School. Bissen has design experience and has worked as a university adjunct faculty member and an urban geographer. He is working on the Science and Math Institute in Tacoma. McGranahan designs K-12 and higher education projects.
In the Seattle office, DCI Engineers promoted structural engineers Andrew Kracht, Eric Pope and Tyler Winkley to project manager. Kracht joined DCI in 2013 and has worked on mixed-use, medical office, parking and office projects, including Centre 425 in Bellevue. Pope was hired in 2012 and has worked on tenant improvement and multifamily projects in Seattle, including 11th Avenue Apartments. He is working on mixed-use, office and hospitality projects. Winkley was hired in 2012. He has worked on mixed-use, high-rise, residential, office and medical projects. He is overseeing design of the Multicare Covington Hospital addition. DCI is a civil and structural engineering firm with offices in Washington, Oregon, California, Texas and Alaska.
Dana McGowan joined Environmental Science Associates as cultural resources practice leader in Sacramento, California. She replaces Dr. Mitch Marken, who remains on the cultural resources team with an expanded role in national marketing and business development. McGowan is an archaeologist with over 34 years of experience. She was with Parsons-Brinckerhoff. ESA is a West Coast-based environmental planning and design firm.
