Professionals have to produce evidence of continued education in order to renew their state licenses. This recognizes the need to stay current in one's profession, yet few companies and organizations mandate training.
Are they satisfied with people learning on the job? The reality is that most on-the job training takes place in an inconsistent and haphazard way. It is “whatever gets the job done,” and if best practices are identified, they are usually the coach's best practices, not the organization's. This is neither efficient nor reliable.
