Financial Staffing and Recruiting Specialists and the Institute of Management Accountants have awarded the 2000 AOC/IMA Financial Executive of the Year designation to Jerry Wick, director of corporate accounting at Nordstrom. He is responsible for all areas of coporate accounting, including fixed assets, VBM, technical support for desktop and accounting staff, inventory, bank reconciliation and general ledger. A graduate of Central Washington University, Wick has been with Nordstrom for 20 years.
Andrew Whitver has joined Lowell-Hunt Catering as general manager. He was previously with Benaroya Hall, where he was director of catering during its opening year and nine months of continued operation. Prior to that, he was supervisor of Gretchen's of Course for three years.
Rainwear and outerwear manufacturer London Fog announced today the appointment of Kathleen Gouras to the position of Marketing Communications Manager. She comes from Creative Works, a Seattle-based advertising agency, where she developed brand positioning for Cellular One and Hewlett-Packard.
The Seminar Group will be hosting a Sept. 21 to Sept. 22 conference on construction law at the Hilton Seattle Airport Hotel. The conference, which costs $595 per person, features experts who will speak on effectively dealing with new statutes, regulations and other construction-related developments. Sylvia McDaniel has been hired as marketing and communications director for the Downtown Seattle Association. She is the former director of marketing and communications for the Pike Place Market PDA. McDaniel, who has experience with both non-profits and for-profits, holds a bachelor's degree in business and communication from Concordia University.
Todd E. Marangon has been promoted to senior vice president and employee benefits manager at Acordia Northwest. Before joining Acordia in March 1998, Marangon was a vice president at a small Bellevue brokerage where he was a million-dollar producer.
Lane Hoss has begun her first term as chair of the board of directors for the Washington Restaurant Association. Hoss, who is the marketing director for Anthony's Restaurants, is only the third woman to serve as chair in the board's 71-year history. Before being elected chair, Hoss was chair of the Government Affairs Committee and Fall Membership Conference.
Laird Norton Trust Co. has promoted Barbara Potter and Rae Lyn Stannard to its Management Committee. Potter manages the firm's largest trust relationships with emphasis on coordinating complex accounting, cash flow, legal and tax issues from the position of account manager and director of client services. Stannard manages the investment portfolios of high net-worth individuals and charitable organizations. She holds the position of senior portfolio manager and director of investment services. The additions boost Laird's Management Committee members to nine.
The KMC Group has hired public relations professionals Cheryl Thompson, Wendy Stitt and Kerry Wilson. Additionally, Beth Mayer was promoted to account executive.
Thompson, senior account executive, was previously with Edelman Public Relations Worldwide/Seattle. She will focus on software, venture capital and e-commerce accounts.
Stitt joins The KMC Group as an account executive with previous experience as public relations manager at Pro2Net and as an editor at Business Wire.
Wilson, who has a degree in communications from Washington State University, joins as account executive. She also comes to KMC from Edelman Public Relations.
Steve Church has been transferred from the National Kidney Foundation's Oregon office to its office in Redmond. As regional director for the Western Washington region, Church will be in charge of increasing public education and early kidney evaluation programs; increasing the number of services and programs for kidney patients and promoting fundraising activities.
Strategix ID announced it is opening an office in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle. The company has expanded from one to three locations in the last six months. The first two employees to join the Seattle studio are Michael S. Leoniak and Christine Janae, previously with Heartstream/Agilent.
