The Seattle Times Co. has named Bill Yearous vice president, chief information officer. Yearous will oversee information technology and systems support for the company. He has extensive information technology background, serving in a variety of technical and managerial capacities over the past 15 years.
Dr. Douglas Paauw, associate professor of medicine in the division of general internal medicine at the University of Washington, has been appointed as the first holder of the Rathmann Family Foundation Endowed Chair in Patient-Centered Clinical Education. The foundation has contributed $1.5 million to fund the chair, in order to encourage training in patient-oriented medicine.
Williamette University has appointed Edward Kramer to the newly created position of associate vice president for marketing and communications. Kramer, who will manage the university's office of communications, will be responsible for developing and overseeing a university-wide, integrated marketing plan with the goal of communicating Williamette's academic reputation and student experience to the outside world.

Publicis, a Seattle-based communications agency, hired Don Veinish as an associate creative director. Prior to joining Publicis, Veinish served as the general manager and creative director at Young & Rubicam in Vancouver, B.C. Following are the new hires for advertising with their titles: Julie Machen, design manager; Melissa Stolt, electronic production designer; John Reseland, electronic production designer; Danielle Dubois, broadcast negotiator; Tracey Kleber, account supervisor; William Ulbricht, account coordinator; and Stephen Wraspir, broadcast coordinator. Following are the new hires for office services and executive administration with their titles: Michael Colver, PC support specialist; Susie Cruise-Steele, executive assistant; Dan Hostetler, executive assistant; Julie Haije, billing coordinator; and Jim Lafferty, billing coordinator.
Cohesion, a Kent-based provider of strategic program design, research and analysis, announced the launch of IntegratorsOnly.com, an online channel service exclusively designed for system builders and integrators. The members-only site targets the 35,000+ resellers in North America who deliver custom-built technology solutions, and provide local service and support to customers. The service will bring members together with technology vendors and distributors.
Scott Jackson, a Seattle-area executive in trade promotion, business development and corporate communications has joined World Vision, a international humanitarian organization, in a senior-level position. Jackson will provide strategic direction and oversight of major donor fundraising, U.S.-based community development and church relations. He was president and managing director of the Seattle office for APCO Worldwide.
Roland Sartorius has joined Unity Wireless Corp., a Bellevue-based developer and integrator of wireless technology, as a director and as the company's chief financial officer. Sartorius has more than 12 years experience as chief financial officer in several public and private multinational companies.
Pamela Miller has taken over as Snohomish County fire marshal. Miller is responsible for enforcing Snohomish County fire codes and ordinances and overseeing fire inspections, plan reviews, fire investigations, disaster preparedness and water supplies for firefighting
