The Ackerley Group announced the appointment of John Dresel as president, AK TV Group. Dresel was former president of Full House Sports & Entertainment. He will oversee Ackerley's 18 television stations on the East and West coasts, which employ more than 1,000 people. Dresel brings more than 10 years of broadcast management experience to his new position.
Seattle Public Utilities has promoted Nick Pealy to deputy director of finance and administration. Pealy, a veteran utilities senior executive, has served SPU as finance director since 1997. He will oversee all aspects of the finance and administration division of SPU, including management of the utility's $480 million budget and oversight of the finance, human resources and information technology divisions.
Lawrence Fuke has been appointed senior vice president, credit administrator of Washington State Bank. Fuke has been in the loan department of the bank for four years. He has more than 25 years of banking experience in Washington and California.

Shurgard Storage Centers, a Seattle-based self-storage company, announced that CEO Chuck Barbo has been named Entrepreneur of the Year for the 2001 Ernst & Young Pacific Northwest Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. Barbo is now eligible to participate in the National Entrepreneur of the Year awards competition.

National Frozen Foods, a Seattle-based frozen vegetable processor, recently completed work to expand the harvesting, processing and freezing capacities of the company's plant in Moses Lake. In addition, Kevin Entrikin has been hired as field representative for the plant, Lennette Schmidt has been named office manager and Duane Francisco has been promoted to plant manager.
Three Washington companies are among the nine winners of the 2000 National Family Business awards. The three companies — Stemilt Growers of Wenatchee, Anthony's Restaurants of Bellevue and The Wolff Companies of Spokane — qualified for the national awards after winning in the state competition sponsored by Pacific Lutheran University's Family Enterprise Institute last fall. Stemilt Growers won first place in the large business category. Anthony's Restaurants was first runner-up in the large business category. The Wolff Companies was second runner-up in the medium business category.
Jan Jones has been appointed to the newly created role of vice president/chief administrative officer for the Providence Health System. Jones will be responsible for enhancing synergies across administrative, clinical and market lines. She served as interim chief executive for the health system's Washington region since the first of this year, prior to which she was chief administrative officer.
BDO Seidman, a Chicago-based professional service organization, announced an expansion of its greater Seattle practice, adding the partners and staff of Dodd Wing & Co. of Kirkland. This announcement comes just two months after a previous expansion, through the addition of the partners and staff of Hersman Serles’ Seattle area offices. The combined practice, which is effective July 1, will total 90 partners and staff in BDO Seidman’s greater Seattle offices. The partners and staff of Dodd Wing & Co. will be relocating to BDO Seidman’s Kirkland offices.
The Seattle law firm of Falhman & Olsen has moved to a new permanent location. The firm's offices are now located in the Harborscape Professional Building located in Seattle at 1524 Alaskan Way.
