U.S. Bank

U.S. Bank announced its leadership team for the Puget Sound area retail branch network, including Seattle, Tacoma and Bellevue. Brian Reed has been named district manager for U.S. Bank in the Seattle metro area, overseeing 18 branches in the downtown core. Steve Braden will manage the Bellevue metro district, with 24 branches, including four in Bellevue. Chris Heman is district manager for the Central Puget Sound metro area, which covers Renton, Auburn, Kent and Federal Way. Doug Carey will oversee the Tacoma metro area's 18 branches.

InsureHiTech

Seattle has been chosen by InsureHiTech of Princeton, N.J., as the location for a new sales and customer service office established to focus on the insurance needs of the state’s high-tech, biotech, venture capital and environmental industries. John Schmidt was appointed vice president of sales to manage the Seattle office.

Voyager Capital

Voyager Capital, a Seattle-based e-business venture firm, hired Elizabeth Morgan as a senior analyst responsible for sourcing and evaluating new investment opportunities and assisting portfolio companies. Most recently she was a product strategy manager at PeopleSoft.

Tiki Bob's Cantina

General manager Dan Reinharz announced that Tiki Bob's Cantina, a Polynesian-luau-themed bar and restaurant, is opening at 166 S. King St. in Pioneer Square. It features dance music and a "volcanic" dance floor as well as a menu described as "surf-Mex." Reinharz said the general activity in Seattle, as well as the new stadium now under construction, make the area attractive for new business. "The potential for growth in Pioneer Square is one we felt we had to take advantage of."

Seattle Parks and Recreation

Seattle Parks and Recreation is looking for ideas on a new name for North Seattle Park at 10556 Meridian Ave. N. The four-acre park has never officially been named since it was acquired by the city in 1969. Naming criteria includes location, historic or cultural significance and natural features. Parks may be named after a person who has been deceased for a minimum of two years. Parks Superintendent Ken Bounds will make the final decision. Suggestions must be submitted in writing by Aug. 31 and include an explanation. Send them to Michele Finnegan, Parks Naming Committee, 100 Dexter Ave. N., Seattle 98109. Matson Navigation Co.

After 40 years in the West Coast shipping industry and more than 20 years with Matson Navigation Co., Raymond Donohue, Matson's senior vice president and chief financial officer, is retiring, effective June 30. Donohue has been the company's chief financial officer since he started with the company in 1980, the longest tenure of a CFO in the company's 119-year-history. Matthew Cox will succeed Donohue as CFO. Cox has more than 15 years of experience in the transportation industry, most recently serving as executive vice president and chief operating officer for American President Lines.

Heller Ehrman

Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe announced the addition of seven new attorneys to its Seattle office. Liz Dickman joined the firm as special counsel in the business department. Both Michael Gamsky and Oriana Halvey joined the firm's business department as special counsel. Tim McMichael and David Ware joined the litigation department as associates. Matthew Pohlman joined as an associate in the business department. Anne Tiura joined the firm's business department as special counsel.

Washington Institute

The Washington Institute has changed its name to the Washington Policy Center. The Seattle-based organization was founded to promote limited government and free-market solutions for state and local issues, and to be a public policy institute for Washington state, providing analysis and research for citizens, policymakers and media.

Washington Timberland Management

Washington Timberland Management, a Mason County-based forestry consulting firm, has opened a branch office in Centralia. Bob Schwartz, Southwest Washington manager since 1997, is in charge of the office. The public is invited to an open house at the office, located at 904 W. Main St., scheduled for June 28 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Seattle Opera

William Gerberding was elected chairman of the Seattle Opera's board of trustees. Gerberding is president emeritus of the University of Washington, and serves as chair of the investment committee for the Marion Oliver McCaw Hall Capital Campaign. The Seattle Opera also announced that it has named Christopher Maltman Artist of the Year. Maltman made his debut singing Billy Budd in Seattle Opera's presentation of that opera last January.

Il Fornaio

Tom Cosgrove has been named general manager of Il Fornaio, an Italian restaurant located in Seattle's Pacific Place mall. Cosgrove joins the restaurant after working with the On Premise division of Western Washington Beverage since 1992.
