Holland America Line, a Seattle-based cruise line, named Stein Kruse president and chief operating officer. Previously, Kruse was senior vice president, fleet operations. David Giersdorf was promoted to executive vice president, marketing and sales.
Harry's Fresh Foods, a food retailer located in Portland, named Mark Rosenfield culinary director. Rosenfield is the former corporate executive chef for Salty's Restaurant and helped launch Beaches Restaurant and Bar in Vancouver. Harry's develops custom recipes for chain restaurants, ski resorts, college campuses, hotels, hospitals, cafes, coffee shops and delicatessens.
Stirling Technology Co., a Kennewick-based manufacturer of engines and cryocoolers, named Jim Clyde vice president of marketing and business development. Clyde is currently co-owner of EJC Power and is the former vice president of sales, key accounts for Capstone Turbine Corp.
Wolken Communica, a Seattle-based graphic design studio, named Glen Miller partner. Miller is the former director of marketing and communications at the Bellevue Art Museum and held a similar position at the Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. With Miller's arrival, Wolken will expand its services to include marketing and media relations.
Michael Price, an attorney with 13 years of legal experience, was appointed to the Spokane County Superior Court. Price, who will replace retiring judge Richard Schroeder, focuses on family law in his private practice and is the president of the Spokane County Bar Association.
Starfire Sports, a Tukwila-based, not-for-profit corporation dedicated to encouraging youth-participation in soccer, named Teddy Mitalas tournament director. Mitalas, head soccer coach at Edmonds Community College, will be responsible for creating and managing new local, regional and national tournaments and competitions.

City University, a private, not-for-profit university with locations in Washington, Canada and Europe, appointed Dr. Steven Stargardter ex officio member of the Bellevue Entrepreneur Center. BEC is a partnership of educational institutions, government agencies and local businesses that offers business assistance to ethnic minority and women-owned businesses in Bellevue. Stargardter has been president of City University since 1999.
John D. Warner and Kevin M. Raymond were reappointed to the Western Washington University board of trustees. Warner, vice chair, is the retired senior vice president and chief administrative officer of Boeing Co. Raymond, board secretary, is government relations manager with the Seattle Monorail Project.
Seattle's Union Gospel Mission, a faith-based not-for-profit organization, received a grant of $11,000 from the Employees Community Fund of Boeing Puget Sound. The grant will support construction and remodeling costs at one of the Mission's drug and rehabilitation facilities.
Gene Juarez Salons & Spas named Stacy Bollen director of spa operations in the Seattle office. Bollen is succeeded by Alexandra Muhlestein as general manager of Gene Juarez Salon & Spa in downtown Seattle. Effie Reed was named general manager of the Tacoma Gene Juarez Salon & Spa. Gene Juarez has locations in Seattle, Bellevue, Lynnwood, Redmond and Tacoma.
Williams Kastner & Gibbs, a Seattle-based law firm, named Claire Hur, Brian Lewallen, Megan Pedersen and Rosemary Reed associates. Hur focuses on business and commercial transactions, Lewallen's practice emphasizes environmental regulatory compliance and environmental litigation, Pedersen focuses on civil litigation and Reed concentrates on general business matters and commercial litigation.
