Russ King opened an Allstate Insurance Co. agency at 3605 132nd Ave S.E., Suite 404, in Bellevue. The agency will sell auto, property, commercial and life insurance. King has 17 years in the wholesale and retail window business.

Lane Powell Spears Lubersky

Charles W. Riley Jr. of Lane Powell Spears Lubersky has been elected a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. The national association has more than 2,600 lawyers who have made contributions to the field of trust and estate law. John B. Schochet joined Lane Powell and will practice appellate and commercial litigation. Jennifer McMillan Beyerlein joined the commercial disputes and litigation group. The firm has 170 lawyers in Washington, Oregon, Alaska and also in London.

Women's Bioethics Project

The Women's Bioethics Project, a new Seattle-based public policy think tank, named its inaugural advisory board. Members include Northwest scientists, scholars, lawyers and business representatives, from organizations such as the University of Washington, Amgen, Microsoft, Merrill Lynch, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and Health Advocacy Strategies. The board will hold its first planning session in December, and plans to name advisory boards and a board of directors in 2005. International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP named four Seattle lawyers as partners: Gregory Hendershott, David Jacobson, Randall Price and Kenneth Sam. Hendershott works on labor and employment. Jacobson focuses on commercial litigation. Price is part of the corporate finance, and mergers and acquisitions practice. Sam works on securities compliance. Dendreon Corp.

Seattle's Dendreon Corp. appointed Rick Hamm senior vice president and general counsel. Hamm will oversee corporate governance, licensing and merger and acquisitions. Hamm has 20 years' legal experience. Dendreon is a biotechnology company that works to develop cancer treatments.

Columbia Bank

Columbia Bank promoted commercial loan support officer, Jodi Wunder and special credits officer Brenda Ehnat to assistant vice presidents in their respective departments. Columbia Bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of Columbia Banking System and has 34 branches in Pierce, King, Cowlitz, Kitsap and Thurston counties.

Weyerhaeuser Co.

Weyerhaeuser Co. named Andrea Howell manager of federal affairs. She will relocate to Washington, D.C., to work with Congressional members and their staffs, agencies and associations. Howell started at Weyerhaeuser as a public affairs associate in Longview. Weyerhaeuser grows and harvests timber, makes forest products and works on real estate development.
